Paypal, an online payment system, has always been great for me. I have been using it for about six years and have gotten payments for freelance writing jobs and surveys. Although I've never done it, people can also make payments with it. There may be a small charge for using the service, but the convenience makes it worthwhile. They notify you by email if you are paid, and you can use different email addresses. Paypal can be fast easy and very convenient to use.  In fact if you're a buyer or seller on ebay you almost have to use them. But if you do use them just be prepared to be burned because it will happen sooner or later.  Their customer service if you have a problem is awful!  All the answers to your emails are automated and their customer service phone number is very hard to find on their website.  Chargebacks can take months to be solved and their buyer seller protection is a joke!  Believe me if they can find a loophole out of taking any responsibility they… read full review »

I got my Paypal account the same time as my Ebay account, since 2000. Never had a problem with it-I usually use the echeck feature to pay for items, but I realize it is probably safer to link a credit card up with the account and just pay by credit card, because there is more buyer protection. I have heard horror stories of buyers not getting what they paid for, or the item being switched, etc and not getting their money back, or Paypal only refunding a small amount on a high ticket item. As a buyer, Paypal is easy, affordable and safe.  Buyers love paypal.  As a seller, I have not had as positive of an experience.  I got caught up in a dispute, so a hold was put on funds that I had already deducted.  Then Ebay, which was an authorized charge, took out their user fees.  Unfortunately the Paypal system is not set up to deduct only the authorized charge, and apparently none of their employees are smart enough to override it.  Without my authorization, Paypal took over $200 from my bank account and could not quickly resolve the matter.… read full review »

Paypal is an excellent service owned by Ebay. So I believe they have Ebay's best interest at heart and not necessarily yours. They will try and encourage you to use a draft from you bank account. they toot how safe and protected you are when doing so. — I say use a credit card thru Paypal. All PAYPAL does is agree to give your money away as a buyer. — If you are THAT carefree  -hey send me some will ya? — — Seriously.. — — If you buy something..and you do not get it..PAYPAL is NOT on the hook. — If you happen to file within 45 days AND --here is the catch--AND the seller has enough funds..AND you win your claim...then MAYBE you will get a refund.. — — I bought a dvd. I have used Paypal for 7 yeasr with mostly good results. If you are thinking of using them, here are a few things to watch for. — 1) If you have more than 1 e-mail address and someone sends you a payment to one that has no account--you will never get the money. They can't transfer it or correct it. I have tried for 4 years to get this resolved. Have been a user of PayPal for over 5 years now. Paying for items over the internet can be risky if you are a buyer over multiple websites some of which you may not be familiar with but need to purchase a item they have. PayPal makes it so easy, just set up a credit card or go through you bank to withdraw money. —  Have never had a problem with until recently. I purchased a item from e-bay and payed through PayPal and everything went smoothly. I had first discovered Paypal when I signed up to join ebay as a purchaser/seller.  It is so convenient and safe to use.  I have never had a problem.  I also can request money to be transfered from my bank account to ebay and vice versa.  Since being a Paypal member, there have been numerous businesses that accepts paypal such as Walmart, etc.  I love this idea of having business that are online be members of paypal.  It makes it so much more convenient for me to purchase items over the internet safely and securely with my account of my choice.  I would… read full review »

I made a purchase on Ebay using PayPal. When the item arrived significantly not as described, I filed a dispute through PayPal against the seller. They refused to have the seller refund my money or to refund my money using the PayPal Buyer Protection which should have been implemented since the purchase was on eBay. I then went through my credit card company who saw that the item I bought was not what the seller described it as being. They refunded my money and did a chargeback to PayPal.
