I am a skin care fanatic. I love to try the newest skin care products. At my rather advanced age (mid-40's), I want a lot from my products. Eye Creams in particular had better give me results or I'll move on to the next. Here is a list of my five favorite eye creams, what they do, and who would benefit from them.

1. Lancome Progress Eye Cream
Sometimes you just find a product that clicks with you and you don't abandon it even when newer and possibly better products are coming out every three minutes. Progres Eye Cream has been a staple in my skin care routine for decades! This cream is the richest, creamiest, and most hydrating cream I have ever used. I need a tiny amount to completely hydrate my eye area and smooth lines. I like to treat myself every few nights and pat the cream heavily under and around my eyes. The next day, my eyes are refreshed, renewed, and hydrated. Hydrated skin is plumper skin meaning less lines and creases. I won't stop using Progres no matter what else I use unless Lancome stops making it - and they had better not! A half ounce jar is around $55.00 and lasts at least six months.

2. Revision Teamine Eye Complex
My dermatologist suggested this cream when I begged for something, anything, for my inherited (and sleep deprived) dark circles. She said it was the only cream she knew of that actually worked. She was right. This eye complex is a thick cream that also hydrates and firms the eye area. The cream also address puffiness. Teamine Complex has been proven to reduce the severity of dark circles in most people.

It works for me! I use this cream every night either alone or under Progres Eye Cream. After the first few weeks of use, my dark circles did, indeed, look less noticeable and my eye area looked lifted. Dark circles won't vanish. They are caused by the thin skin under the eyes allowing the veins beneath to show through in many people. This cream does aid circulation and help to lighten the eye area on the surface and it works beneath the surface. I like it and my eye area is less zombie-like when I use Revision Teamine Eye Complex on a regular basis. A one half ounce jar sells for as little as $44.00. It lasts about six months or slightly less if you use it twice daily.

3.) Philosophy Hope in a Tube Eye and Lip Firming Cream
When I first starting using this cream, I was underwhelmed. It comes in a one half ounce tube and seemed to be just "any ole eye cream". However, after a few weeks, I was hooked. The cream's vitamin C, E, and plant extracts blend together to give my eye area a shot of antioxidants and hydration. This cream is perfect for day. I use a bit around my eyes and on my upper lip area (The skin around the eyes and above the upper lip is remarkably similar.) in the morning. My concealer glides on well and my eye area stays hydrated all day. This is a great all in one cream for people who want one cream that does everything. This does. If I didn't have such dry skin, I would skip the Progres cream nightly and use it only a few nights a week.

A one half ounce tube is around $33.00. I get mine in a kit with other Philosophy skin care products which reduces the price. A tube easily lasts four months and I am heavy handed with all eye cream.

4.) Wei East China Herbal Eyes Alive
Wei East doesn't even call this eye treatment a cream although it comes in a one ounce tube and is white like cream. It is oil free and contains Chinese herbs and botanicals as well as antioxidants. It's a light cream that is never greasy and can be used by anyone, young or old. It refreshes the eye area and adds hydration but is never heavy. I love Eyes Alive and sometimes pat it on mid day if I am home or even if I'm in my office. It immediately absorbs so I never look wet eyed. It's excellent for those who like lighter creams and don't want a cream with oil in it. A one ounce tube is only about $28.00 and will last between four and five months or more depending on how often you use it. Well worth the cost!

5.) Burt's Bees Royal Jelly Eye Cream
For you natural skin care products fans, I can recommend Burt's Bees Royal Jelly Eye Cream with no hesitations. I am not the hugest fan of Burt's Bees products, but I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this one. This eye cream is 94.45% natural and, indeed, contains Royal Jelly. It is a rich, thick cream that hydrates and soothes dry skin. Because it does hydrate so well, it plumps fine lines and gives the eyes a less aged appearance. This cream is almost as thick as Progres Eye Cream but isn't quite as silky and indulgent. Still for about $10.00 for a quarter of an ounce jar, you really can't go wrong. If you don't like thick creams, skip this one. It's heavy. You need the smallest amount to do the job.

There you have it. My five favorite eye creams. I want to mention Wei East White Lotus Eye Dreams as well because it is a wonderful night cream. I would use this in place of Progres Eye Cream at night because it is every bit as rich, thick, and hydrating. I love this cream and have it at home but I only have two eyes and all these eye creams! Still if you like the idea of Chinese herbal ingredients mixed with the latest technology, this rich night cream will really do a good job for thin, dry, aging skin around the eyes. It's about $39.00 for a .52 ounce jar that will last six months or so.

I hope this has some of you who are considering switching eye creams or who may be just starting to check out eye creams that ward off and address aging around the eyes. Don't let your eyes give your age away!

Thanks for reading!

yay pattytherre! i'm late 30's and my skin stays looking young and wrinkle-free with minimal upkeep, but i have had puffy ender eye bags since teenhood! (sleep deprivation) they aren't even necessarily all that dark, but they are pronounced. i am hoping one of these finds will help! it's good to hear from someone with experience - i have wasted much money trying to figure out if the claims work. also, since my main problem is puffiness and not darkness or wrinkles, it's hard to find something specifically for it. I think I'll start with the revision. thanks for a good starting point!

I'm glad my list helped. I wish there was a "perfect" eye cream but I have yet to find it and I sure have tried a lot!

Great reviews of eye creams Patty. I can't wait to try these as I'm a skin fanatic also & as we get older the eyes seem to be the first part to show our age. Thanks!

Pattytherre good morning to you! I'm glad to hear back from you! It was so nice to hear that you are "all right" Patty. May you stay that way for a long, long time too! Some of the notes here had me concerned; not knowing exactly what was being said and all...I have to admit that. About all our eye creams: I have always searched (just as you have) for that one eye cream that does it all. So far there is no such thing! Some day without any question there will be and at some ridiculous "price" I'm sure. I for one will more than likely pay it! Meanwhile, we ladies will just keep on trying them one by one and discovering they do not meet our expectations. I enjoy all your reviews Patty. You seem to have both the ambition and know-how for writing these reviews. Have a nice weekend! ~Angel~

I'm fine. Just a few little things. Nothing serious (as far as I know)> Thank you for asking! As for eye creams, I wish I could find JUST ONE that does it all. So far, no go.

Angelx wrote on Oct 7, 2008 at 12:04PM

It seems the good "decent" eye creams that do anything at all are always way over priced! But as you know, we ladies always want to look our best. Our nature is to endlessly try to preserve what we already have. By the way, Patty I do hope you are well? Or soon will be? I have been reading all these messages here and now I am wondering, are you all right? ~Your friend Angel~

Thank you! I am still waiting for results. I GOTTA call and ask what's up. They often just overlook test results where I go. I need to switch doctors!

Thanks! I hope one of these creams works for you. I am an eye cream fanatic and I have recently tried a couple of new ones and I didn't like them at all. They were way overpriced too.

PattyTherre I really enjoyed reading this review. You did a fantastic job and I found it most informative. I have always enjoyed reading up on the latest make up tricks and tips, but mostly about the eye creams available out there. These 5 favorite eye creams on your list all sound promising to us ladies. I might have to give them all a try, one by one of course. So I will know which works best. Thank you for this interesting review, it's a job well done PattyTherre! :)

I did the survey. Mine popped up too soon! But I got my $7.00 (or was it $6.00?). I did one for the presidential debate too. I assume they will do it again for the next two debates. I'm in! lol.

It's a good all around eye cream. Your skin is so sensitive that once you find a cream that works, stick to it!

Did you participate in a survey during the debate? I did one where you answered questions after the topic segments but they came so late after the segments ended that I was already in the next topic.

LaurieM wrote on Oct 2, 2008 at 10:45PM

As you know, I am using #3 and so far so good!
