While I do enjoy to cook on occasion, I'm pretty lazy when it comes to food preparation, so I look for things that are quick and easy to prepare.  Pasta Roni definitely falls into that category.

I know what you're thinking.  Isn't Pasta Roni a side dish?  Yeah probably, but can't you go into an Italian restaurant and order a plate of just pasta?  Sure you can, and this is simply the home version.  For me, Pasta Roni is a meal.

The product couldn't be easier to prepare.  Just bring water, milk, and butter to a boil, reduce the heat to medium, add the pasta and seasonings, and cook for 5 minutes (stirring occasionally).  After that, remove it from the heat and let it stand for 5 minutes.  Anyone can do it, so long as you bear in mind what happens when you bring milk to a boil (I learned that lesson the hard way in microbiology lab).  Since I have an electric stove which doesn't cool down quickly, I'll set one section to high and another to medium and transfer the pot from the high section to the medium section.

The nutritional information on Pasta Roni might raise a red flag, depending on your diet.  The exact nutritional content varies slightly depending on the variety, but they have about 300-350 calories per serving (2.5 servings per box) and about 650-750 mg of sodium per serving.  That might send some health conscious people running for the hills.

Overall, I like Pasta Roni.  It's not the healthiest food in the world, but it's cheap (about $1 a box) and it's filling.  Enjoy, in moderation.

I never did add anything, but a creative person could probably do quite a bit with it.

works great for my college money saving son, but you can nutrition it up, through in some frozen broccoli while cooking the sauce and some cooked chicken and you have a full dish. Cauliflower and ham, peas, carrots are also good additions.
