At this point, after traveling via rail, backpack, shuttle and bus through a fair amount of Europe, after all of the incredible sights and cultures that Europe has to offer, I still love Paris best of all. Around every corner holds an amazing bit of history, a wonderful bistro, a world class museum, or just the experience of a life time.
Traveling through Paris and all of the adjoining areas is a snap because of their incredibily comprehensive subway system called "Metro". You can go anywhere on it in the Metro area and even Versailles, or EuroDisney, (although I would recomend skipping...
review »If you don't like Paris, there's something wrong with you. The city is beyond beautiful, great for walking, eating, people watching, museums and shopping. It's changed dramatically since I started going there in 1980, but it's still Paris with all its splendor. Wear comfortable shoes, but not American sneakers, and walk, walk, walk. You may feel like a frump, but you will even in uncomfortable shoes because Parisians carry themselves with confidence and know what to do with a scarf.
My favorite location is the 6th arrondisement, where we generally stay in a small, 3-star hotel to savor...
review »Anyone travelling to Paris, especially you first time visiters, this is a wonderful find to give you a general and complete overview of all the major sites and monuments over one or two days.
Paris offers several sightseeing bus tours but the most outstanding is "L'OpenTour". For an adult a one day pass is only 26€ and two days at 29€. This pass offers you 4 different tours in a double decker, open rooftop bus. You can take as many tours as you like, and you can get on and off the buses as frequently and for as long as you wish, meaning, if you choose to spend a little or a lot of time at...
review »Although you hear many bad things about Paris, the truth is, the majority of Parisians do not hate Americans! It's as simple as speaking their language- which is beautiful in itself. It is easy to getaround, it may take a day or two to get used to the Metro system, but no big deal if you have ever taken public transport before. It is a wonderful city to explore. Seeing the sights is, of course, a must, but just wandering the streets of Paris is enjoyable as well.
If you are going to go up the Eiffel Tower, go a little cheaper and at least walk up to the first floor. The views are amazing, and it's...
review »Paris is a must see for any travelor to Europe. It is important to learn as much of the language as possible as the people and tradesmen, prefer that you at least try to speak their language even though they may understand yours.
The food is wonderful, and so many sights to see from the Louvre to the Eiffel Tower, to the Arch de Triumph, so much history.
It's always fun to see the artists painting and you may even find a special treasure to enjoy.
Make sure that you also go to Marseilles for the Palace is another experience.
Paris is an absolute must-visit -- just walking along the streets and looking at the gorgeous buildings and cozy cafes is a treat. But the landmarks are unforgettable -- the masterpieces of the Louvre, the bateaux-mouches tour boats on the Seine, the magnificent Notre Dame, the graceful Eiffel Tower, the elegant Champs d'Elysees and Arc de Triomphe, the dramatic Sacre Couer basilica. There's something to thrill everyone in Paris.
I have visited several times, and my favorite way to experience the City of Light is to rent an apartment on the Left Bank. There are plenty of reliable rental agencies,...
review »There's no city on earth like Paris. It has grand boulevards, a scenic river, buildings and bridges guilded with gleaming gold, monuments and public sculptures everywhere, and dozens of incomparable museums. Despite what one hears, the people are generally friendly and helpful. Sometimes they can be brusque or impatient, as one also finds in other large cities like New York. English is beginning to be spoken widely, and Parisians have become more tolerant of the imperfect French of tourists. The finest of old-world opulence is available to luxury travelers, but Paris is also excellent for budget...
review »i have traveled over 29 countries now and still find PARIS my favorite city of all. it is very pretty, elegant, and full of surprises. however, with those added benefits, it comes with high price tag.
there are many places you can visit and my personal favorite is the Louvre Museum or Great Louvre, or simply the Louvre - is the largest national museum of France, the most visited museum in the world, and a historic monument.
among all the art displays in this gigantic museum I enjoyed the painting "The Mona Lisa" by the famous artist Leonardo da Vinci and probably is the most viewed and discussed...
review »Doesn't everyone dream of visiting Paris? There is just something about this amazing city. It's so hard to describe but being there just took my breath away. I've never imagined myself living anywhere but the U.S., but after visiting Paris, I honestly could see myself living there. It is just such an amazing city. And while I've heard that the French are rude, that really wasn't my experience. I felt that everyone was accomodating and polite - but maybe that's because I work in Boston, a city also known for being on the rude side.
I was fortunate to be offered a long weekend trip to Paris. I was able to see a bit of many things, such as two hour trip to the Louvre, a walking tour of the old city, etc. Yet there was simply not enough time to relax and absorb the sights, sounds and tastes that make up Paris. Somehow I'll find a way to go back...again and again!
I did find the city easy to explore, and the Metro easy to use. It is well worth the trip!
Great place. It's been a couple of years since I revisited but I will never forget it. It's beautiful, the people there are great. They love everyone. I love to shop and eat so I had a variety to choose from. It's so much history and life there. Whatever you are looking for you can find in Paris.
I'm going back, soon.
