The Baby Bee Bop Band is a toy that has several features I like. It teaches (cause and effect, and can be used to teach rhythm later), it doesn't require batteries, and it requires purposeful action by the child. Plus, it can be used by kids of all ages - even in preschool and kindergarten (and beyond) kids love playing with rhythm toys. The bright colors attracted my daughter when she was very young, and when I start playing the drum her eyes light up and she grabs the drumsticks.
The set comes with a jingle bell, a tambourine, a xylophone, a shaker, and drumsticks. My biggest complaint is the xylophone. Not only is it not tuned to any note (which really bother sme more because I'm a musician than anything else), but it isn't xylophone-sounding either; when we hit it, we hear more of a plastic-y noise than a xylophone sound. We use a set of meditation chimes instead if we want her to have a xylophone.
Overall, though, it's a good set of toys that kids will enjoy, and other than the xylophone, is a nice introduction to rhythm instruments.
