Doo Wop, The Details
I recently purched the Parents Bee Bop Band musical instrument set for about $20 dollars. I thought this fun set was a cute twist on the old fashioned instruments you find everyday. The Bee Bop Band consists is a large drum that's filled with several insects (or should I say instruments). There are 2 centipede drumsticks, a festive ant with jingle bells, a bumblebee clacker/maraca with clacking wings, a ladybug bell with an attached drumstick, and a caterpillar tambourine. The Bee Bop Band is innovative and great for a child's active, growing, imagination. The fun funky colors and the faces on the instruments are friendly and cute. The instruments are chunky and easy to manipulate, but I definitely feel this is created for older babies. I appreciate how all the instruments fit neatly in the large drum and can be carried around by the hanging strap.
Bee Bop the No Bops
Although the bugs and bees in the Bee Bop band are absolutely adorable, the noises they make RESEMBLE NO INSTRUMENT WHATSOEVER that they were designed to mimic. With the exception of the ant bells and the bee maraca, I don't think Beethoven himself could do anything with the clinks bangs and thuds heard out of these guys. However, I must say my daughter squeals with delight as she marches around clanging, banging and shaking her groove things.
Bee Bop for the Small Tot
I think the Bee Bop Band Set is a cute gift for any child, especially if they like bright colors and odd noises. It's more of a novelty item and not really functional if you're looking for the real musical experience. My advice if you really like it, err on the wise side, ask for it as a gift instead of spending your hard earned money!
