I love my 3 parrots, but the reality is that I work a full-time job and there is usually at least one day a week when they don't get any out-of-cage time. I have been getting them into foraging and trying various foraging toys with them to keep them busy and entertained during the hours that they spend in their cages. The Paradise Hide-N-Seek Foraging Toy is the newest one that I've purchased.
The Paradise Hide N Seek Foraging Toy is made of clear blue plastic with several small/medium holes and is stuffed with wicker balls, colored wooden balsa shapes, and paper shreds. The whole idea of this toy is to make your parrots really work to try to get the stuff they like to chew on out of the small openings. They are such smart animals that it really requires a challenging puzzle like this to keep them happy and busy while they are alone in their cage.
My Eclectus immediately went up to this Foraging Toy and started pulling out the paper shreds. She chirped, cooed, and laughed at herself as she worked on the objects in the different openings. My Timneh African Grey, on the other hand, was afraid of it for awhile though she did eventually learn to love it. After almost a week, the two we have still are almost completely full which leads me to believe that I will only have to refill them every month or every other month or so.
At about $11 or so, this is a very reasonably priced foraging toy that keeps my parrots happy and entertained. That being said, it is not sold in many pet stores and probably will have to be ordered online by most people. I'm very happy with it and would buy it again if one of the ones we have broke. Recommended!
