Papillions are a whimsical breed. They possess a natural confidence which makes them social, engaging, interesting and inquisitive. Typically no shyness here, they do not shy away from social situations and interact well with dogs of all sizes, adults and children. They are a breed that is just as at home in a small apartment or large house. They can handle long walks or short outside time. They can be potty trained inside or outside as well as love to be challenged by learning tricks or memory games. read full review »I have had my Papillon dog since he was 12 weeks old. He is now 2 1/2 years old and I have to say I love him more every day. I was told by the pet store staff that the males tend to be more friendly. This breed is in the spaniel family. They do not dig in the yard, yap excessively, or destroy items. They are very playful and intelligent. I have found that my dog loves all types of toys from stuffed animals to balls and he will play with them by himself to keep contented. read full review »We've had two Papillons from their early puppyhood and love them. These dogs, like most toy breeds, don't realize they're little. My Prissy is fierce in protecting me, but she's never vicious or a biter. If you're interested in agility trials, this breed is excellent, being both easy to train and VERY fast. The grooming required is about average for a long-haired dog. They do need routine brushing, but they don't mat badly as they don't have a double coat.
