Working with billing, I have a way of doing it that involves going through a lot of paperwork. Normally I like to do my checks of it with pencil, but when I have completed a segment, I want to leave notation that I will recognize later on. That is where my red pens come into play, and one of the reasons that I use them so often. In addition to that, I use red pens when I am sending anything through interdepartmental mail, so that it stands out and is easy to read by the mail person. Red pens are a way of life for me; from correcting mistakes on things that I am editing, to using them on yellow pads as notes, to even leaving myself sticky-notes with reminders. More often than I write with other colors, red pens come into play at work.

My primary choice of red pens is the Papermate Flexgrip Ultra Ball Pen with Red Ink and a Medium Point. I normally use the same type of Flexgrip blue pens as my other office pens, but it is the Red ones that get more use from me. I am not the only one in the office that uses them, as my supervisor likes writing with them too. This presents a small problem, because one I was using 5 minutes ago could turn up missing at any moment. I always lose pens this way, and the evidence always ends up leading back to her office. It's not that big of a deal in the scheme of things, because we get them in a 12-pack, but it can be frustrating anyways.

The Red Papermate Flexgrips are sold either in a solo capacity, in 12 packs, or in 24 packs at the office supply stores over here in Eastern Washington. We purchase the 12-pack, so that we have a back-up supply if any of them go missing, or if they run out of ink. Working in an office that has student use on a frequent basis, you are going to lose a few of them, so it is always good to have a few spares. The pens themselves have a nice comfortable and rubberized barrel, which extends from the metal tip back to the plastic end piece. It is very easy to hold on to as a result, and very comfortable to use a lot. You don't end up extending yourself too much if you use it for a long duration of time, and it also doesn't hurt as much if you are tapping your fingers with it. I know that isn't all that big of a deal to some, but for me it is.

In the place where you hold the pen, there are 5 ridges carved into the barrel to allow you to have an even better grip on the pen. This keeps your writing very neat, and makes it so that the pen won't slip even if you are writing down things quickly. Since I answer phones a lot, I have to jot down notes quickly, and having a pen that will respond to those needs is a blessing. The metal end leads to a projected ink tip that will write no matter how you are holding the pen. The ink comes out easily, and is a bright red that gets noticed right away. I like the color a lot because it stands out on paper, and you can see it from a nice distance. It makes the experience of using the pen so much less stressful than if you were using a cheaper one too, because the tip doesn't stop working until the ink has run out. Thus you don't have to worry about picking up a pen that won't work.

The Papermate Flexgrip Ultra Ball Red Pens can be purchased at nearly any office supply store for around $7.99 for 12. Sometimes you can find them on a nice special where you will save a few bucks, but even at full price they are fully worth the purchase amount. They work great in an office setting, and for the teachers out there, this is the perfect type of pen to use for corrections on homework assignments or tests. They come with a nice rubber grip, a lid that goes over the top, and my guarantee that you will have a comfortable writing experience. I highly recommend the Red Inked Flexgrips, and I suggest that anyone who uses red ink a lot, should pick up a box.

I've been using these ever since I developed a repetitive stress injury. They make writing so much easier.

I love pens and pencils as well. I think it comes from preparing for the first day of school and getting a new pencil box. Very thorough review, good job!
