Bottom-Line: All-n-all the 5.3 ounce PaperMate Flair Felt-Tip Pen is an excellent writing instrument; an expensive looking output, with a sensible price-point.
PaperMate is pens. The company makes nothing else, and so it virtually owns the market for the writing instruments in the middle of the market. If I want a cheap ink writing tool BIC is my choice, but if I want a quality pen that doesn't cost a mint, I choose a PaperMate.
PaperMate manufactures a larger assortment of pens, mechanical pencils, markers and erasers. And one of my favorite pens is the 11mm non-refillable PaperMate Flair Felt-Tip Pen, which comes in sixteen water based (prevents smearing) colors including pink, black, blue, red, green, purple, magenta, plum, lime, marigold, navy, yellow, olive, tangerine, lilac, and sky blue. Barrel colors correspond to the color of the ink within.
The pen itself is nothing to write home about. The barrel is not particularly attractive; it is slim and fit easily between the fingers. The lower half of the barrel-the business end-tapers ever so gently to fit the fingers comfortably. And of course there is a clip on the removable cap that can be used to attach the pen(s) to your shirt pocket of notebook.
My Viewpoint
Over time while writing with the pen, I have found it comfortable to write with. Although hard, the barrel does not hurt the fingers no after cursory usage, but prolonged writing will start to cramp my digits'. The ink goes on the page smoothly; indeed the tip literally glides across the page with easy leaving behind crisp, clean colored text.
Prices for the Flair Felt-Tip Pens vary widely from $.99 each to a high of $1.49 each, to $15.79 for a set of twelve; this was after a rather leisurely jaunt through the shopping mall of the Internet.
All-n-all the 5.3 ounce PaperMate Flair Felt-Tip Pen is an excellent writing instrument; an expensive looking output, with a sensible price-point. Comparable to a Sharpie of the same (11mm) tip size and for about the same amount of money, the Flair Felt-Tip Pens from PaperMate are certainly fit for everyday office or home use. And did I mention it smells good?
