The Music Genome - mapping the music you love best.
I've seen Genomes mapped out for Authors, and I've never seen the Genome which drives Pandora, but it doesn't really matter.
What the genome does, is it shows you what you know - and then expands on it to show you what you don't know - in a related form, style, type of music. You will learn more about different artists that you didn't know about by listening to Pandora.
I think I made 21 different stations based on a song or an album/artist that I liked. I could switch according to mood and circumstances.
You can send these "radio stations" to friends and share (but you cannot edit a shared station, only the ones you create) .
You can tell it songs you don't like and never want to hear again - or you can "put to sleep" (a month) songs you like but are tired of hearing.
As I figure, it seems to start from songs on your station list, and then it spirals outward into unfamiliar territory until you stop it and tell it to "head back in." Then it starts the process over with something from your selection. In this way, you can easily find other music related to the music you like - and branch out into new areas.
The creativity of the "radio stations" and the genome project itself are amazing enough for 5/5 stars.
