I purchased this product for my Mom who enjoyed watching the photos I had loaded in the frame.

However, she had a power outage in her house and the frame blew. Now, it's dead and no stores seem to be selling this product anymore.

The design of the product is obviously faulty.

You wouldn't say that the design of of microwave oven or a TV was faulty if it got blown by a spike associated with a power outage, so your criticism of the PanDigital DPF80-2 seems overblown. I'm sorry you lost your DPF to a power outage spike, but that really doesn't mean that the product was not designed or built well. For enough $$$ you could include a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) and surge suppressor in any device, but it would not be economically feasible to include that much high-level hardware in a $200 picture frame. Oh, and btw - the onlne version of the manual does caution you to unplug the power supply when you are not using ["monitoring"] the product. I think you'll learn someday to unplug electronics when there is likelihood of electrical storms or anything else that might result in power spikes.
