Choosing a digital camera usually involves substantial compromise.

If you plan to use the camera very often (daily), you probably want it to be small.  But, small often means limiting the zoom to 3x - 4x.

If you like to shoot unobserved you need a longer zoom and this usually adds significant size.

Like to shoot landscapes?  Or, perhaps indoor events?  Well then a true wide-angle lens is probably what you need, but then you'll probably lose on the telephoto end of your zoom.

But what if you want it all?

That's right.  I want a small camera (small enough to put in my pocket), with a true wide-angle...

I recently purchased a Panasonic DMC-TZ3K (black) to replace my $500 Canon PowerShot S2 IS digicam that developed the "black screen of death" after only 2.33 years.  I wanted large optical zoom (since my Canon has 12X) in a compact package (the Canon was a small all-in-one) that could also use my existing SD cards.  This camera fit these requirements and is actually the only compact digicam with >6X optical zoom!  The Canon was great, but far too big to put in my pocket.  As an added bonus, the TZ3 also has 22mm wide angle lens that even the larger Canon S2 IS did not have.  This is great... review »

I was in the market for a digital camera with a higher than your average 3x optical zoom.  After reading numerous reviews, I settled on the TZ-3.  As an amateur photographer, there is little that disappoints me about this camera.

This camera has quite a bit of power and several features, all packaged into a pretty small bundle.  Granted, it's not as compact as many of the cameras on the market with your average optical zoom, but I've found it to be a lot better for taking photographs of nature.

As with all cameras, the more you zoom in, the more pictures can be distorted by movement.  This...

I'm not a real photographer, so not having manual controls on this little camera is not a problem, as far as I am concerned. What I wanted was a small camera I could keep handy in my purse, that would give a good zoom photo with good clarity. Cheaper point-and-shoot cameras did not have nearly the high quality zoom feature of this little guy, so for me, the extra money was well spent.

While this camera is not fabulous for taking photos in low light, it has a very efficient little built in flash. I have found that the photos of pets or my granddaughter or scenic shots have turned out very well...

I found this product at Costco three weeks before Christmas.  It meant to be a gift for my wife but we both use it.  Comared with other digital crama on display, the price seems a little bit high to us.  However, after reviewed we determined it is a good product.

After we bought it and got home, we started to shoot pictures.  It is very easy to operate and the pictures turned out to be super.

I highly recommend to professionals and amateurs.

Before leaving for a year abroad in France, I decided that it was time to invest in a digital camera.  I knew that I would be doing a lot of traveling, and was looking for something that was light weight, sturdy, and took great pictures.  That's exactly what I found with this camera.  While it's a little larger than most, I liked that I could get a good grip on the camera and not have to worry about it being smushed or josteled in my bag.  The pictures are incredible -- I never dreamed that I would get such good quality photos from a non-professional camera.  The camera's zoom is awesome for...

The Pansonic TZ3 is a wonderfully small, feature-packed digital camera. Not as small as some but for me that's a plus - some cameras are so small I can't hold them properly or easily use the buttons. It takes beautiful pictures in decent light; you may have some problems focusing in very low light.

The LCD screen is big and clear, and you can boost the brightness to make it more viewable in bright sunlight. The screen is not movable but there is a "high angle mode" for taking photos with the camera held above your head (turn it upside down and you can also use it for low-angle shots).

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ# digital camera is a little expensive in my opinion but luckily I found it on ebay for about $70 used. I like the features like a big LCD screen, but I can't figue out how to upload just a few pictures at a time on my computer. With my other camera it was easy to do.Also the lens cover tends to get stuck and I have to pull it down with my finger. The picyure quality is good, but I don't think I actually needed over a 7 megapixal camera .I quess if your going to be blowing up pictures to a 16X20 than you'll need this-otherwise I think it's overkill.I like the sleek design... review »

I have a Fuji Finepix Z1 and absolutely love it - but was looking for a camera with more substance, yet still easy to carry around and relatively inexpensive.  This one fits the bill.  It has a 10x optical zoom and optical image stabilization which are both hard to find in this size and price range.  It also has a very sturdy metal body as opposed to so many with plastic parts that can easily break or crack.  The downside to this tough exterior is that it is also heavier that others of similar size.  There is a lot to experiment with in learning to use this camera, but it's fun in the process.... review »

Initially I started with the Panasonic DMC-TZ1 which is a good product.  When the megapixels went to 7 I decided to upgrade and I haven't been one bit sorry.  This model has more features, specifically the menu set-up.  Much easier to use.  I have always loved the 10X zoom feature.  I've had many compliments on my photography in all modes ,but especially the Macro mode.

The anti-shake is a great feature.

I've let several people use my camera and they have been so pleased with its performace and simplicity that they purchased one for themselves.

I bought this camera a few months ago, In preperation for our wedding. After speaking with a digital specialist at Best Buy, we chose this camera.  I tested it there, and I've been using it alot.  Our roommate who doesnt know much about taking pictures took a picture of us with our pets, and no one believed that we hadnt had them professionally taken.  I'm very happy with how the pictures have turned out, and I am very satasfied with this camera.

I love the Panasonic DMC-TZ3 camera.  The Lumix lens allows you to zoon up to 10x without any blurs in the pics.  I use my camera to take pics of my kids and it takes them extremely quickly in outdoor light.  It is a little bit slower in indoor light but I would still recommend.  I get a lot of comments from family and friends that my pics look very clear and bright when they are printed.  Very durable!

Large 3" viewing screen with extra bright setting for many outdoor situations. Use total point and shoot setting or fully manual and a real nice macro setting. 10X optical used with the 4X digital allows a 40X zoom if needed. Image stabalizer and will hold up to a 4Gig memory card. With all the features on this unit the main thing I was interested in was it is a small pocket size camera.

I am really excited about this camera!  It fits nicely in my pocket or pocketbook without getting lost but doesn't have to be crammed in.  It's light, easy to operate, and produces incredible pictures.  The only learning curve I have found is the menu system and that is probably me, not the camera.
