I love my camera and love to sing its praises! My camera is a Panasonic DMC-LZ7. It is 7 megapixels. Megapixels are important when it comes to enlarging your photos. I have enlarged photos to 11x17 with my 5 megapixel version of this camera with amazing results. Many cameras now come standard 10 megapixels, yet I do not believe that is so important when you can get professional looking enlargements with even a 5 megapixel.

Now to talk zoom. The biggest selling point to me for my camera was the 6x optical zoom. There is no other camera I could find, in my price range anyway, that has a 6x optical zoom. Key selling point for me. Most cameras come with 3x. If you enjoy taking photos of landscapes and scenery the higher optical zoom is definitely a must! Digital zoom is different, it only zooms your picture after you shoot it, not before.

I also love that my camera has a histogram, which is a little meter that shows up on my screen. It is like a little light meter that tells me if the shot is going to be perfect or if I should adjust the flash up or down, or even move to a different angle. I find it really handy and kind of like a fool-proof way of getting the perfect shot.   The Panasonic also has a special "Verio" lens which is a special patented lens and if someone were more deeply into photography, would know more about this, I do not, but it is supposed to be very special.    Overall, I recommend the Panasonic line of cameras because, though you could find similar features on other cameras, there were not any I could find anywhere near the price Panasonic offers (under $200), very cost effective. When it comes to electronics, I always find it more sensible to stay in mid-range pricing because with rapid and infinite changes in the technology it is always better and cheaper tomorrow. Besides, I do not have to get awful upset if something happens to it (lost or broken) and I need to replace it. And it is simple to use.
