Outstanding memory maker

One of the best cameras on the market. Designed for both the novice and semi-professional. Loads of easy to use features for both taking pictures and videos. Lightweight and comfortable to hold. . Lens tops with crystal clear pixels. Downloading is easy with the long cord. Image Quality The Leica lens is one of the best. Delivers clear pictures in auto mode or any of the special modes. You'll love the outcome of your pictures. Performance The camera does the work for you in any mode. It's quick to respond, quiet and easy hold. It works in almost any light or situation. It alerts you to problems before they arise. Video is sharp and sound quality good. Ease of Use Lightweight, comfortable to hold and shoot. The viewfinder is soft on the eye. Flash pops up with just a button and snaps down. Auto mode is fine in most situation. Allows you to learn as you go with additional lenses available. Durability Keep this with me all the time. Dropped once on pavement and didn't break. The lens is quite protected by the fitting. Battery Life Holds a charge for a long time. I have 4 batteries but 2 will last a full day. The battery charger is small and fits on any outlet. The car charger is easy to use and charging takes only an hour or so. The battery compartment is on the bottom and changing is a snap. They stay in place great. Portability It's very lightweight, if you're traveling out the for day you'll hardly notice you're wearing it. I have a larger case for it to hold my extra lenses and batteries, but I don't seem to need it during a regular day. Tried the Panasonic point and shoot version of this for a cruise and was so disappointed.

Great Pictures

I needed a new camera and decided on this one. There are so many different features (not at all what I was used to with my previous camera) but once I got used to it and started using the features as they were meant, my pictures were awesome! It's a little heavy but other than that, I have no complaints.

About as close to an SLR as you can get for a lot less money.

A bit bulky and heavy to carry around when on long trips; but, worth the effort for the pictures it'll capture for you, with a little practice - you'll be pleased with the results, once you learn to use ALL of the numerous features of this great camera.  And there are a multitutde of them.  You can only become prficient by practicing using the camera and varying the settings for your experimental shots.  When you get the hang of it - you'll love it's finished products - good pictures.

Flawed design; manufacturer low life

Worked ok for nearly a full year before suddenly dying in the middle of a shoot.  Ok for outside shots; really awful in low light.  Panasonic refused warranty work by saying the main board had "corroded" and i must have dropped it in a lake.  The camera was never within a hundred miles of a lake.  For the price, you can spend just a little more and get a good camera OR a lot less and get a good point and shoot, which is all the panasonic is anyway since the ridiculous scrolling menus make it impossible to use the features in any real setting.  Canon and Nikon and Fuji are good manufacturers.   If you insist on Panasonic, make sure to buy a warranty that  covers dropping it in a lake as they will probably try to weasel out of warranty coverage by accusing you of just that.
