I have had my Panasonic Lumix for 7 months and have enjoyed using it almost every week to take photos and videos of my family. This camera is perfect for people who don't want to carry around both a photo camera and a video camera, because this device allows you to take both of these with great quality. I would definitely recommend this product to a friend.

Image Quality
I have been very pleased with the image quality of both the photos and videos that I have taken in the past 7 months. In many cases, I believe the video quality is better than our 2005 Sony camcorder. There have been some times when I've not been pleased with the quality of the photos, but I believe that was more the fault of the photographer or the photo printing facility as opposed to the fault of the camera itself.

Performance
I don't have any complaints about the camera's performance. Is does everything that it's supposed to do, and it does it well.

Ease of Use
I rated this category as a 4/5, because this camera does have quite a few buttons and settings that the user needs to become familiar with before being able to use the camera at the optimal level. I would highly suggest reading through each section of the manual before using the camera.

Durability
I cannot comment on this section too much, because I have not dropped the camera yet, so I don't know how durable it is. However, from everyday use, the camera is holding up very well and still looks new.

Battery Life
I love the battery life on this camera! I can use it for weeks and still never need to recharge the battery.

Portability
It's small and compact, and can easily fit into a purse or most men's pants pockets.

We bought this camera 6 months back after our old camera became so outdated as to embarrass us to pull it out in public! We wanted an easy-to-carry travel camera with good auto-settings, while at the same time better than just good quality pictures. We picked this over canon 1300 IS because of its superior optical zoom and wide angle lens.

So far, no regrets on the daytime and close-up snaps- this camera takes professional-quality photos. The many settings are awesome for the oft-impatient photographer in me. I especially like the 'snow' setting- you can catch snowflakes in the foreground and background without compromising the main subject's color or visibility. The panorama feature is also handy.

However, we are shocked over the camera's terrible performance in low-light conditions- the pictures come out grainier than our old 5MP camera, and everything comes our blurred unless you keep your hands over something steady. My hands are steady, but even the best of my pictures have come out with at least a 'soft' focus- no good for museums and concerts.Probably the pics will improve if you fiddle with the settings, bu then what's the point of having a point-and-shoot in the first place? There go 2 stars for the camera.

Decent

By

from Undisclosed

Comments about Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS7 / DMC-TZ10:

Overall the Panasonic Lumix is a decent camera at a fair price. It's not the best one on the market, but if you're just looking for a casual camera to take photos now and then, it's great. Decent quality, great performance, and sleek design.

Image Quality
The images turn out okay if you have decent lighting. If it's too bright, you'll start to see some pixels or grittiness in the photos. If it's too dark, you won't see anything unless flash is on. Otherwise, it's great quality.

Performance
Works extremely well in all modes. A picture is taken right away after you press the button

Ease of Use
Very easy to use and navigate.

Durability
Very easy to scratch. I accidentally dropped it once and there's minor scratches on the outside.

Battery Life
Even though I charge it to full battery, I only get an hour when I try to film something. If you're only taking pictures the battery should last a few hours or more.

Portability
Small enough to carry around and fit in your purse.

An excellent camera you will love

By

from Hawthorn Woods, IL

Comments about Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS7 / DMC-TZ10:

We purchased this Panasonic-LUMIX camera for my husband's Christmas present. I find myself "borrowing" it quite often after seeing the quality pictures you get with it. It is not an inexpensive camera, but its features compare quite closely with a 35mm camera. It is also extremely user-friendly. It has a high quality Leica lens and the zoom feature is fantastic.

Image Quality
The regular pictures and those taken with the zoom are both excellent in quality. I was very impressed.

Performance
The camera is fast, and it has a rechargeable battery. There are various special settings that are easy to use and offer versatility and fun.

Ease of Use
You don't even need to read the manual- quite easy to figure out and use.

Durability
This is a new purchase. As far as I know, it is durable. It is lightweight and easy to carry.

Battery Life
If you use the camera for a day, just charge it up at night. The battery life is not extremely long, but not bad.

Portability
It is small and light, fits in the hand well.

Little Camera Big Features!

By

from Highlands, TX

Comments about Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS7 / DMC-TZ10:

I've had this camera for about 6 months & I love it. It is light, small, & easily fits into a small purse. The 12X Zoom takes great pictures. Using the macro is so easy. No settings to set just put the camera close to the object & click. The flash is auto but can be forced off or forced on with a quick setting when needed. Playback of pictures & videos are easy as it has a large 3" LCD screen. The camera is extremely user friendly. Downloading Videos from camera card to computer takes some getting used to as videos are recorded with AVCHD Lite HD Video. This feature almost doubles recording time so its worth the effort to use the provided Photo Fun Studio program to edit, view, & save to JPEG file once downloaded to your computer. I've read other reviews where the reviewer hated this program. I personally did not have a problem with it. I easily edited & saved videos as JPEG files & posted to Facebook. I have no need for the GPS capability. Other reviewers have complained about the expense of the OEM batteries & card but I shopped around & got great deals. It all works wonderfully for my needs. I'm retired & just have fun taking pictures. This is my favorite camera as I seldom miss a shot because it is small & always with me.

Very Clear pictures

By

from Arcadia, CA

Comments about Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS7 / DMC-TZ10:

This is my first camera purchase and I did a lot of research before buying. Most of the reviews I read stated this was a great camera, so I decided to buy it. I must agree the pictures come out great ( I don't really look at alot of pictures though so I am not a good judge ). There are several modes on the camera, it has GPS, and face recognition (never used them but nice to have I guess). It also shoots HD 720p videos in 2 formats, motion jpeg (8 mins max / video file) and AVCHDlite. I don't use their utility to transfer the files to my computer, so you have to know which files to look for and where to look for them if you do this.

One drawback is that this camera is wide angled so sometimes the shots come out kind of weird. I'm not sure if there is a way around this because I haven't looked for it, but its easy to change w/ a different 'mode'

great quality photos

By

from Glastonbury, CT

Comments about Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS7 / DMC-TZ10:

This camera is amazing! I love the quality of the photos - great detail down to a very granular level. The viewfinder is large and easy to see, and the focus feature is great. It is small and compact, and for the price is a great value. I would say the only thing that bothers me is the self-timer. You can only take one picture at a time, although their is a burst feature but the quality of those photos are poor. So you have to set the camera, walk, snap, and set it again which can get annoying. But if youdon't use a self-timer much, you be very happy with this camera. Removing pictures to a computer is very easy and self-explanatory. The only other downside the battery life is short, but it is a rechargable battery so that great! Get an extra one to charge while you use the other battery and you will have no problems with this camera. I would recommend it strongly to anyone in the market.

Lumix ZS7 - a great camera for closeup work

By

from Austin, TX

Comments about Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS7 / DMC-TZ10:

Here at work, we purchased the Lumix DMC-ZS7 for taking pictures of electronics as well as other general picture taking.  For our uses, this is a great camera.

Our main use here is very close up pictures, to see solder joints, leads, etc.  This camera does amazing work in terms of close ups.  We have taken pictures from 2-3 inches out and the results have been nice.  You do have to have quality lighting to improve picture quality, because at closer ranges, the flash doesn't have a good range and can get easily blocked.  With proper lighting from all angles, this is not a big problem.

For general use, this camera takes a good photograph.  I have no complaints in terms of my own use, granted, I am not a major photographer, so I can't judge image quality as well as others.  Still, it is a solid camera for taking pictures.  The video is also really nice, it has a sharp image and takes quality videos.

I think for most people, this is a solid camera that will suit most needs.  It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but at the same time, it does a good job.

Compact but crisp photos and video

By

from South Plainfield, NJ

Comments about Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS7 / DMC-TZ10:

I used to have a Canon Powershot G3 since ages and just did not want to change my camera although it was high time - until I saw the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7. The pictures and video are so amazing that I was ashamed I didn't buy this earlier. It comes with 12x optical zoom (Note: this is optical zoom and not digital zoom unlike a lot of cameras which advertise digital zoom. You can digitally zoom later using Photoshop or equivalent photo processing software. It is optical that you need so the picture is captured with clarity). It is very lightweight and can fit in your pocket (maybe a bit tight on your shirt pocket, but it will fit!). I have taken pictures during daytime and evening and I love them. We always get compliments on the clarity of the pictures. For people who use SLRs and do not want to lug all that weight and size this comes handy as a quick getaway camera.

To get an idea of the videos before you buy this, do a search on YouTube for Lumix ZS7 videos and you will know what I'm talking about. Fantastic!
