This Panasonic combo DVD/VHS player is the worst DVD player we've ever owned! We bought it about two years ago. We purchased it because at that time it was the **only **DVD/VHS combo player on the market that had a built-in ATSC tuner. Because we were in desperate need of a player that housed a ATSC tuner, we bought a Panasonic--which normally would NOT be our choice of manufacturer. To its credit, it does play DVD's and VHS tapes well and has a USB slot. However, one of the main reasons we purchased the player was to record shows/movies on blank DVD's. Even though the blank DVD's we purchased are of high quality, this player has a VERY difficult (if not IMPOSSIBLE!) time reading them. The player OFTEN comes up with such bogus messages on the screen such as: "Copyrighted material: cannot copy" or "Cannot read disc." No matter how much time is spent on cleaning the blank DVD's, the player has EXTREME difficulty in reading/acknowledging the disc. Thus, the taping of shows/movies is NOT even possible! I was leery in the first place regarding buying a Panasonic brand. Do yourself a favor--pass up this machine--and manufacturer!
