The Panasonic TZ5 is a small, fast, digital point-and-shoot with an amazing Leica 10x optical zoom, and a very clear 3 inch high-resolution (470,000 pixel) LCD screen.

The 10x Leica optical zoom (28mm-280mm equiv.) ranging from wide-angle to telephoto is a delight to use, showing no color fringing (truly surprising) that I could see, and amazing detail. The camera is replete with features such as image stabilization (two modes), metering modes, auto-focus modes, three aspects ratios (4:3, 3:2, and 16:9), and HD video.

Following action with people, animals or kids when zoomed-in is NOT easy since...

After doing weeks of research, and using this camera for about a year, I would have to say that it is the absolute best point-and-shoot that you will ever find!  The combination of the Leica lens, 9 megapixels and 10X OPTICAL zoom on a hand-held, pocket-sized camera is absolutely marvelous!

I took this camera with me to Japan on study abroad trip, and it was the envy of everyone!  Many of my classmates were lugging around expensive SLRs with far too many lenses to keep up with.  What was amazing was that I was able to get some much better shots with my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 than any of my...

This camera is one of the best.  The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 came out in January of 2008, not giving the DMC-TZ3 time to get worn in. The TZ3 is one of the best travel cameras because of its size and ease of use.  The TZ3 has a 10x optical zoom lens complete with a 3" screen.  It also has an image stabilizer.  It was one of the best of 2007.

The new DMC-TZ5 doesn't mess too much with this perfection - by keeping the 10x optical zoom and the stabilizer.  It has the additional feature of optically zooming the lens while filming videos, and it updated its resolution from 230k to 460k pixels.

This is a great little camera. I already have a Canon DSLR, but it's big and bulky and expensive, not something I'm comfortable taking to theme parks where it could fall on a fast ride, and it's too bulky to keep with me all the time for those unexpected shots. So I looked around for something that would fit the bill, something I could put in my pocket to carry all the time, and something that if it were lost or damaged, I wouldn't be throwing away a ton of money. After a lot of research, I chose the Lumix TZ5. I have to say I am very impressed, for being a point and shoot, it takes fantastic pictures.... review »

I love my new Panasonic DMC-TZ5.  It has more features than I will ever use.  Battery life is very good - i was leary of getting a new camera without rechargable batteries because I like being able to have backup batteries, but so far so good with this camera.  I was also a little afraid of not having an actual view finder, but the screen is really big, easy to see, and so very clear.  Makes it very easy to share the pics immediately ( you know how you pass the camera around at events ) - well, this screen looks great.  I wish digital cameras would get rid of shutter lag - this one is quicker...

I love my Panasonic DMC-TZ5 digital camera.  this is my first digital camera. it is very easy to use. there are several different settings to use depending on what you want to take pictures of. there are setting for snow scenes, fireworks, scenery, people, babies (who can even key in a babies name that will show up on the screen of the camera, unsure if it'll print on the actual picture), pets, self-portrait, night scenes, fast motion, etc.

so you will be able to take pictures of many different activities and events, and have them come out clearly.  if you are looking for a good digital camera,...
