This is a great little camera. I already have a Canon DSLR, but it's big and bulky and expensive, not something I'm comfortable taking to theme parks where it could fall on a fast ride, and it's too bulky to keep with me all the time for those unexpected shots. So I looked around for something that would fit the bill, something I could put in my pocket to carry all the time, and something that if it were lost or damaged, I wouldn't be throwing away a ton of money. After a lot of research, I chose the Lumix TZ5. I have to say I am very impressed, for being a point and shoot, it takes fantastic pictures. While it doesn't have the option of manual adjustments, it does have enough predefined options to cover most any situation you run into. It also has the ability to shoot motion images, so you won't miss those priceless moments with the grandchildren, and better still, it has an option to create a still image from the motion video, by combining up to nine frames. Granted, the moving images aren't the same quality as from a dedicated DVR, but they are far better than any I've seen yet from a still image camera.  With 9 megapixels, the images are superb, and big enough to make an array of prints or do quality trims. The 10X optical zoom really does reach out nicely to capture distant shots, and with the image stabilzation, nearly all hand shaking is eliminated - even when riding in a vehicle! The deciding factor for me though was the Leica lens, you just can't skimp on the glass, that makes all the difference in the world. I would have to give this purchase 5 stars out of 5 stars, one of the best decisions I've made this year.
