great tv for the price

5

while looking for a tv i waited and waited for either a LCD, LED LCD, or plasma tv with a great deal. eventually i found this TV on sale for around 1k and though it was bigger than i needed, the price was too good to turn down. i've been really pleased with the TV, the picture quality (even without adjusting settings) is excellent. the TV also has all the connections i would want, from HDMI all the way down to the old composite cables. The set is slightly heavy but it's 58" large, of course there will be some weight to it. nothing 2 adults can't handle though. For a long time i though the only new TV i would get would be a LCD since people keep saying "plasma is on its way out", and a particular criticism of the technology is that it "wears out after awhile". after getting this TV, I really have no complaints. if anything, the prices for all TVs will keep dropping and by the time this TV breaks (if it ever does), I'll be able to get a replacement for super cheap anyway... right? so if you're looking for a tv, don't be shy about picking up this plasma. for the size and price it really can't be beat and it looks awesome.

Awesome Picture - Hard to beat bang for your buck

As an early Christmas present I received the Panasonic S2 in 58 inch flavor.  I had considered the G line of Panasonic plasmas but decided that for the same price or less I would trade some picture quality for inches (screen size).  The gee-wiz features offered in the more expensive lines are not particularly important to me as many Blue-Ray players offer Netflix and YouTube connectivity.  In addition we own a TiVo that also offers video on demand and networking functionality.   The first impression of the TV was that is BIG.  I knew that seldom does anyone ever regret getting too big of a flat panel but I wondered if perhaps I had done just that as I looked at the gigantic box sitting in the middle of my modestly sized living room.  This fear was unfounded as both my wife and I have grown accustom to the 58 incher and now have trouble understanding how we suffered with the 27" CRT TV we previously used.   While I am not a videophile I am known to be detail oriented and I have trouble finding anything lacking in picture quality.  I am even surprised at how satisfied I am with the built it speakers (I of course plan to upgrade in the near future).  I love that I can view from almost 90 degrees off center and not worry about any fading or distortion (as with LCD based sets).  I also appreciate the deep blacks and lack of any motion blur.  If I was to buy another TV tomorrow I would go with the same set.  It is a great bang for your buck.
