I ask you, "what's the point of owning a plant stand that won't support your hanging baskets?"  Most people would answer that there is no point, and therein lies the point of this review.  We purchased a **Panacea Double Offset Forged Shepherd Hook** to hang our Topsy-Turvy vegetable planters.  Unfortunately, the hook was so unstable that the entire thing came tumbling down, minutes after installation. At first glance, the **Panacea Shepherd's Hook** seemed like a good buy.  It's made of  black, forged, powder-coated steel, which sounded like it would be sturdy.  The double hooks are offset a few inches, and there is no excessive ornamentation to detract from flower baskets or decorative birdhouses. We just wanted something utilitarian for a hanging strawberry basket, and a hanging basket of bell peppers.  My hubby quickly plunged the shepherd hook into the ground in the perfect sunny spot of our backyard.  As soon as I filled and attempted to hang the strawberry basket, I knew that there was going to be trouble.  He picked up the second basket to hang on the remaining hook, and the whole set-up began swaying in the breeze.  Before long, the pole began to bend from the weight of the plantings and we had to remove it all. I think the design of this product could be greatly improved with the addition of another support leg.  As it stands, there is one main support pole, with a shorter side leg for support.  There's nothing supporting the other side, so it's no wonder it collapsed under the weight of the plants. Ultimately, my dear hubby came up with the solution of screwing 2 large I-hooks into the fence posts, installing the shepherds hook in front, and then tying a length of gardening wire from the hooks to the post.  It's now completely secure and there's been no more swaying in the breeze. Unless you only want to hang something incredibly lightweight from the **Panacea Double Offset Forged Shepherd's Hook,** I would pass this item up in lieu of something much more substantial.
