My daughter was about seven months old when we started to use Cruisers. The size threes are supposed to fit children from 16 to 28 pounts, and they fit my daughter well from about 17 to 25 pounds - from when she was seven months old until she was nearly two. I loved the snug but flexible fit, which was enhanced by the stretchy velcro tabs. Even as her activity level drastically changed during all those months, the Cruisers still fit well and contained leaks.
I appreciate Cruisers much more after trying other diapers. Some diapers have a real problem with beads of gel oozing out when they get wet, and I have never seen that beading on my daughter's skin while using Cruisers. Some also have an odd, lumpy shape when wet, and the Cruisers seem to transform from fluff to gel evenly. They are so absorbant, they always feel dry to the touch. This is not good for potty training, but it's excellent for preventing diaper rash. I spent way too much money on my daughter's baby clothes and sheets, and felt a little frantic when it came to leaking diapers. Once we moved from Swaddlers to Cruisers, leaks were almost unheard of, even overnight. I never felt the need to switch to a more heavy duty overnight diaper.
My one gripe is the baby powder scent. It's downright bizarre smelling when the diaper is wet, and merely cloying when dry. Is it really necessary to perfume a baby's bottom? If the baby is clean it's not necessary, and once the baby is soiled nothing is going to help but a whole new diaper.
These are more expensive than other diapers, but buying bulk packages of the smallest size that will fit your child helps keep the monthly costs down.
