I love these strainers but the can be tough to clean if you don't have a dishwasher. I had to buy a small fingernail scrubber to clean the mesh.

I had a hand me down colander from my mother that didn't look all to bad, but when I used it, my ground beef and other smaller items would fall through the holes. My husband prefes things chopped and sliced thinly so this was a constant annoyance. I bought these from Pampered chef and they were a little bit more pricy than I expected but LOVE THEM. They are easy to clean if you rise right after straining something other wise food may get crusty on the mesh. They nest beautifully which make storage much nicer. They can also be washed in the dishwasher, and this is the easiest and most efficient way to clean the mesh. I have had them for over 6 months now and am very happy. The base is very solid so it doesn't fall over and it doesnt create a seal around me drain in the sink which my previous colander did which would cause the water I was trying to drain to sit in the sink and make the colander hot. This product is a huge improvement and am so glad that I got it!
