Great for prepping and storing

5

These prep bowls are great for preparing recipes and salads before mixing. We will often use them to store the cut ingredients of a salad (such as celery, nuts, or cucumbers) the night before using, and then mix the salad the day of the use. They are also great for putting on the side of a salad with an ingredient that some do not like or are allergic to (such as nuts). We also use them for storing smaller amounts of leftovers in the refrigerator when we only have a little bit left and do not want to waste space in the fridge with a large container. Ease of Cleaning The glass bowls can go in the dishwasher, but the lids must be washed by hand. The lids are pretty easy to clean though, especially since they do not get very dirty through normal usage. Durability The glass bowls can go in the microwave when reheating leftovers, but the lids cannot. We once tried setting a lid on top of a bowl to keep the contents from splattering (just sitting on top, not sealed), and the lid literally shrunk in the microwave. It will not fit on the bowl or snap down anymore.

Perfect for packing lunches

5

I really like my recent purchase of a Pampered Chef 1-Cup Prep Bowl Set. These are glass containers with plastic lids. The glass containers are great because you can put them in the microwave, oven, freezer, refrigerator, or just in a cabinet for storing dry items. They are also easy to store because you can stack the bowls within each other. I typically use these when I pack my lunch, and I put different salad toppings in the bowls. These even look nice enough to set out if you are having a party where you want a "create your own" something type of set-up. These are really easy to wash. I put both the bowl and lid on the top shelf of the dishwasher. I was a little hesitant to put the lids in the dishwasher at first, but none of them melted so far, so I'm hoping they will continue to be all right in the dishwasher. Durability The only concern I have is that I'm a little worried I might drop a bowl and break it since it is glass.

Nice to have

I recently purchased the Pampered Chef 1-Cup Prep Bowl Set to use when my children help me with my baking. They are always begging me to let them pour the ingredients into the mixing bowl for me. So I use these to pre-measure everything and then I line them up in the order they need to go into the mixing bowl. Then my children can just grab each ingredient without me having to give them instructions and dump them in the mixing bowl. It's like a game for them and it's less mess for me. Of course they do have other uses also. They have lids so they are perfect for storing those small amounts of leftovers from dinner. They are good to make individual cups of jello. They are also good to mix spices in or to fill with dips for veggies or potato chips. My children use them to sort their beads. They are not expensive at all and they are good quality and very easy to clean. They are dish washer safe too. I am very satisfied with this purchase because we get so many different uses out of them.

Useful, but not a must-have

These little bowls are handy and versatile. They are glass, so they are durable and you can use whisks or forks or other metal implements in them without worrying about scratches. I confess that, when it comes to mixing and measuring small amounts of liquid ingredients separately, I usually use a liquid glass measuring cup with a spout and handle, but these little prep bowls are more versatile than those. They have tight-fitting lids and a convenient shape. You can even use them as little jam dishes or serving bowls as long as you don't mind the measurement markings on the sides. They are only one cup in size, so they are ideal for things like chopped herbs, small batches of salad dressings/vinaigrettes, pre-measuring ingredients, etc. They also work great as serving dishes for yogurt or ice cream, and you can use them in the oven, freezer, and/or microwave. The lids make them ideal for storing small batches of leftovers, as well.

Love this Product

5

I love having containers as many a times, food is left open in the refrigerator and so having bowls is always beneficial. I purchased this product along with the batter bowl of Pampered. I use this product when I make pudding or cakes or jellies and they are so light in weight. These bowls even have a measuring indicator which makes it easier to check the amount of pudding and jelly you are pouring in it. The covers are strong and these bowls are air tight. The only drawback is that these bowls do not come in different colors and I own the white-colored cover bowls. One can keep these bowls for a long time in the refrigerator and whether you are storing puddings or jellies, the desserts remain fresh and the container lids are easy to remove without any effort to be made. I have another set of Pampered bowls which I have purchased as a gift for my relatives birthday and I am sure she will love it too.

Great for so many things!

I had a Pampered Chef party and ended up with more credit then I had a plan of how ot spend it.  My consultant recommended the **Pampered Chef 1-Cup Prep Bowl Set **and I thought it was a good time to try it. Now I find myself reaching for these little bowls for EVERYTHING!!!  I break my eggs in them before adding them to a recipe (to be sure they're good eggs).  I store little bits of leftovers in them.  The cups have measurements on the sides and I even find myself using them for measuring things that I don't need exact measurements on. I love that they are glass and can be used in the microwave without having to worry about all the plastic contaminates you hear so much about these days. They are dishwasher safe but I usually wash the lids by hand as the first time I put one in the dishwasher it got a little pink tint from the red sauce and I didn't like the way it looked (it actually washed fine, didn't loose it's shape or anything I just don't want pink lids).

Handy for prepping in the kitchen

When I bought these, I wasn't sure how much I would use them, but we quickly found many uses for them. Prepping - The 1-cup size worked well when dieting. At the start of the week, we'd cut up fresh vegetables and store them for cooking during the week. Microwave-safe - We use the bowls to heat up frozen fruits and vegetables for our son's school lunches. Storage - The smaller cup size is ideal for storing unused portions of canned foods. We found so many uses for them, we have since bought a second set. If you have found this review helpful, let me know with a "thumbs up!"

Amazingly Versatile Little Bowls

DISCLAIMER:  Yes, I sell Pampered Chef but I don't love it because I sell it; I sell it because I love it. This is one Pampered Chef item I bought with my first ever purchase of Pampered Chef, before I became a consultant.  I was a newlywed and wasn't sure exactly *what* I would use the bowls for but they looked like fun, so I went for it. One of the smartest purchases I ever made. We own eight of these bowls in this house (there are six per set and then two came in the consultant kit) and I still want to buy another set - we use these that often. The bowls are made of tempered glass so they're durable and can also go straight into the oven if you so desire.  They have measurment markings engraved on them, so they won't rub off and come with lids so they can be stored in the refrigerator. We use our bowls for storing small leftovers.  For making pudding and instantly separating it into four servings to chill in the fridge.  For serving ice cream and many other small snacks (so gret for portion control!).  For baking molten lava cakes (YUMMY!).  For homemade baby food.  For dipping sauces at meals.  For serving veggies at meals (my husband hates when his green bean juice infilitrates the rest of his plate). Really, the possibilities are so many.  I cannot recommend these bowls enough.

These are a very interesting product. I actualy got this prep bowl set from Pamered Chef thinking that it was not going to be very useful. I was very wrong about that. I use these all the time. I think what makes them so useful is that they all have a nice lid that gives a very tight seal. So lets say I have a recipe that calls for fresh cilantro or parsley cut up. What I do is I put the leaves in the prep bowl. I then take my kitchen shears and cut it up right in the bowl by holding the shears down into the bowl. I cut it all up use the amount that I need and seal the rest up with the lid for maybe the next day. I have also used these while decorating christmas cookies with kids. You put the different sprinkles in the bowls and you can seal them back up if you need to take a break or save for the next batch. I often take them out just to put leftover in them or pack something for lunch since they are such a unique size. You can also bake in them. So I have baked cake batter in them and decorated them with frosting like baseballs and also once I did ladybugs.

These Prep Bowls Are A Definite Must-Have!

I can't say enough about these great little cups! I actually have two sets (they come in sets of 6) and might get a third, at some point. My favorite things about them would be similar to bigger bowls by the same great company, and they include but are not limited to the following: (1.) their ability to go from the oven to the freezer, to the table, (2.) their air tight lids, and (3.) their clear design that allows you to see what's inside and goes with any table setting. I've used them for all kinds of things, including the following: -Measuring out ingredients to prep for a meal (as their name insinuates is their main purpose) -Storing small leftover portions of food -Making single-sized desserts (puddings, jellos, etc.) -Freezing orange juice for use in smoothies (see my review of the Hamilton Beach hand blender for details) -Displaying foods on the table, such as Sundae toppings, salad toppings, sauces, dips, and all kinds of condiments The only reason I gave these cups 4, instead of 5, stars is because I could do without the measurements on the side. If they didn't have those, they'd be a little prettier to put out on my table!
