Rethink the Palm Treo

2

I have owned my Palm Treo for two years and it is my primary phone.  From the beginning I have experienced several problems with the phone. 1.  **Phone Gets Hot.**  With growing concern over the risk of cancer associated with cell phone usage, my number one complaint regarding the Palm Treo is that the phone gets very hot after prolonged use.  It becomes so hot in fact that I no longer put the phone to my ear.  I either use speaker phone or use a bluetooth. 2.  **Battery Life is Short.**  Another frustrating aspect of the Palm Treo is that its battery life is very short.  Inevitably I must charge my phone every night if I want to have any remaining power the following day. 3.  **Phone Freezes.**  Admittedly the phone is getting older (two years), but recently the phone has also begun to freeze, meaning that the keys completely lock up.  In order to rectify the problem I have to take out the battery and insert it again. 4.  **Does Not Work Well with All Bluetooths.**  While I must admit that the Palm Treo connects almost effortlessly to bluetooth devices, the service that I receive is generally problematic.  Either there is static or the person to whom I am speaking cannot hear me.  Initially I thought that this was a problem with the bluetooth device itself, but after testing the bluetooth with another phone, I realized the issue was with the Palm Treo.

The Palm Pixi   The first day I got to discover The palm Pixi cell phone, I didn't care for it at all.  I think it was just to high tech for me at first or something, but I absolutely love it now.  What I love the most about the Pixi is that you can have as many apps as you want opened at a time, you can also do things on your apps while talking on the phone also.  In my opinion the Palm Pixi is a great phone to have, especially since it's very small and light weight.   There are some negatives about the Palm Pixi like not being able to save media songs from the messages, or the screen sometime freezing up and not working.  The service doesn't always please me either!  In my opinion I think that I'm going to enjoy the Palm Pixi for a long time.   I Would recommend Weman to the Palm Pixix be fore I would men, because the Pixi's seem more like girlie phones and just more our type.  Another reason is because finger nails are a great thing to have while using the palm Pixi because the letters and number are really close together, and easy to hit one another.       Sincerley,   Latosha

What I love about the Palm Treo is finally having internet access, a full keyboard, and a touch screen on my mobile device. Coming from the Motorolla Razor, it is a huge upgrade in those technology functions. The connection to the internet is relatively quick, but it doesn't do well when downloading large sites, and cannot format them correctly in a mobile screen setting. They need to make improvements, (if they haven't already), in developing a better interface for viewing the web and integrating functionality on a mobile device. For example, trying to go to my web based email provider is a nightmare, because I have to download several screens which can take 5 - 10 minutes to actually get to the email bin, and the screen just looks like a jumbled overlap of words. The keyboard is fantastic, really well done to make typing easy. I wish it could be a little better lit for functioning in dark rooms. The touch screen is good, however, with the recent phones like droid, smartfone, and the ever popular iphone, I don't think it really compares. The screen image size is much smaller than those, and it is not as robust. But, for a phone that was launched well before this new generation, it was certainly advanced for its time. Two things I absolutely hate about the phone is the sound quality. Listening to a conversation is nearly impossible. Besides bad audio quality and volume, the ear receiver sound hole is tiny, and with it's boxy shape, nearly impossible to figure out where you should hold the phone to your head. The battery life is also not good. Having one 10 - 15 minute conversation nearly drains the entire battery. Without even using it often during the day, I am still left with little battery life each night. The other, and probably most irritating lack of foresight is the inability to save or store unknown phone numbers that have been texted. It is probably the most used function for networking or meeting new people, and they completely overlooked it. You simply can't click on the phone number and add it to contacts, you need to remember the phone number, then go into your contact manager to store the info. And, while speaking about the contact management, it would have been nice to offer the ability to store names alphabetically by either first or last name. Since I'm on a first name basis with most people, it would help if I can change that list order.

Palm Treo's are not my number one choice for a cell phone

The Palm Treo is a high tech phone with several problem areas.  They are very bulky and heavy.  Trying to figure out how to program this phone can be quite confusing.  There are programs and setting, but sometimes you can program or set things up through those applications.  Games are available which is nice, but I would have liked to have been given more options than just bubble break and solitaire.  I do like the feature of quick dial.  I have a the names of the people I call the most right on the face of my phone.  I can either press their name, hold a key down or just call with their entire number.  A downside is that my one year old can easily call them as well.  Even though my phone is in "lock" mode, she somehow found a way to conference call people.  For me to unlock it, I have to go through a series of buttons.  She managed to crack that code within just one minute of having my phone.  If my phone is dropped a few times, the screws come flying out.  I am over having this piece of junk that does not get good reception.

Palm Treo is a good piece of Equipment

The Palm Trea works well and has held up to rain, dropping it  and other rigorous use. I like the size.  It fits well in a women's smaller hands and I also like the speaker feature which makes it easier to hear when you are outdoors. Having e-mail access is a plus and it is also compatable to my Supra System allowing me to upload "key" access for my Real Estate Job.  I have had my unit for 3 years and have had no problem.  I'm still using the same battery. It is just beginning to need recharging more often.  I'd recomend this phone to anyone that needs a Palm or Blackberry style unit.  With all of the application it offers anyone can use it.  It comes with the ability to upload information on the computer, link to other palm users, take photos and video. Very versatille and user friendly.  A good phone for the money.  Only downside is the insurance for this phone is expensive and you must way the odds of paying the higher insurance or replacing the phone if you lose it.

terrible!!!

1

Palm centro by Verizon. Phone is horrible. As I am talking and using the phone it often disconnects me. Not due to connection with Verizon, it is due to the keypad , any slight pressure hangs up the phone. Unable to read entire emails. Only has so much view for emails. Would never recomend this phone.

I will never buy a Palm Treo again!

2

i purchased a palm treo because i thought that it was better then the blackberry! Oh...i was wrong! Ever since i recieved my treo i really wasn't liking it.The picture of the treo on the site was very misleading! Come to find out, nothing that at&t offers for the treo is compatiable with my phone. I can't download any games etc. The only thing that i can do with my phone is make calls, browse the web(and you can't go to alot of sites), take pictures and a few other things that i believe that the phone was made for! i recommend that, if you are thinking about buying a treo, make sure you do your research because i feel that it's made for indivisionals that do a lot of traveling and really doesn't use phones for pleasure(Playing games, downloading different apps etc)! I haven't even had my phone for a year and it's already freezing  up on me! The Touch screen doesn't work anymore. And i don't want to deal with the hassle of going through the insurance company. I am very happy with my carrier... but i think they need to think about taking the palm out of there phone selections. In spetember i will be switching my phone. Hopefully i will not experience this with any of their other phones.

The ONLY cell phone/PDA to have

5

I have had my Palm Treo 755 for almost 2 years.  I had a regular cell phone before I got this and I am amazed that it can do so much.  It is a phone, PDA, movie screen, television, camera, camcorder.  I can also email, send and receive documents.  I text my friends and family on a daily basis.  I use the internet when I'm in the doctor's office, sitting in the car at red lights or in traffic.  I pull up traffic, weather, entertainment and watch TV when I'm bored and not around a regular TV.  When a thought strikes me for something that I musts remember, I stop, pull out my phone and add it to my calendar as a reminder.  I also put my grocery lists in the memo section.  I love being able to take pictures of my friends.  It also has an application where you can assign a picture to a person's name.  When the phone rings the picture pops up for people that have to wear glasses to be able to see who it is without putting glasses on.

One you go touch, you can't go back!

I upgraded from a Katana to the Palm Treo and LOVE it. The touch screen is addicting and if I try to use someone else's phone I tend to touch the screen and look silly. I love the calendar and Google Maps the best. I also love having the game Suduko on there for when I am bored. I love that it also has an MP3 player but wish it held more songs without needing additional storage. I get pretty good service no matter where I am and love that about the phone. The battery lasts days without charging, as long as I am not constantly using it.

best phone i have ever owned

4

i purchased my palm treo about three months ago.  I fell in love with it. i have owned many phones in the past and they  could not do half as much as this one can.  I take alot of pictures and i can take my SD card right out of my camera were ever i am and put it in my phone and send a picture to anyone anytime.  i can set my phone to check different emails.  It has a planner to schedule appointments both business and personal.  I can file my business contacts and personal contacts seperatly.  I can link it to  my computer to share things.  i would recommend this phone to everyone.  it has a full key board for texting and the texts are saved by who sent them in your phone.  it has been a treat to own I will never own anyother phone.
