Getting ready for bed has never been so much fun! When my grandson came for an overnight visit (Yea!) he brought along his current bedtime story, Pajama Time! by Sandra Boynton. This is the classic story of a menagerie of characters discovering that it's fun to hit the hay. Boynton transforms what could have been an ordinary kiddie tale of bedtime routines from a less imaginative author, into a rousing, nighttime celebration."The moon is up/It's getting late

As I began to read the story for the first time, my grandson could barely contain his excitement. I had to chuckle as we went through the book (which he has apparently memorized). He knew all of the rhymes, and chanted them in unison with me as I read through the story. This is not the kind of soothing bedtime tale that you find in "Good Night Moon." Rather, this is an upbeat, fast-paced ode to tooth-brushing, bath time, and your favorite pajamas. I ended up reading it two more times before I could settle him down to go to sleep. It's good that the book is made of sturdy board material--I have a feeling it will be getting a lot of use before he tires of it.
Pajama Time! is not exactly a lullaby of a story. But, it offers so much imagination and joy that I'm sure my little one fell asleep with visions of magic and whimsy dancing in his head.
