So...last Christmas my daughter went absolutely GA GA over this Dino. She HAD to have it. It was the only thing on her list besides the pony she knows she can't have for the fact that we have no where but a garage to put it. Not that that deters her any. She is only seven and comes up with rather creative solutions. Hence her socks in the microwave to dry yesterday morning when I went to warm a cup of coffee.
But I digress. Back to Dino's. This toy is amazing. I am not saying it is anything but. Growing up in an age where we thought slinky and hoola-hoops were the bomb-digity and the rubic cube blew our minds this toy is fantastic. It comes in its own bright box, with tons of intstructions and a battery charger and its own little leafy food. After it is "born" (wakes up) supposidly it grows and changes each time you play with it. Learning new things. You can also hook your little friend up to the internet to download new things into it. Well either mine is lazy or just doesn't work like it is supposed to. Or perhaps it was all about the wanting and not in the having for my daughter because she has played with it once a month since last christmas.
ONCE A MONTH. And at three hundred and fifty dollars (without tax and shipping) that rounds out to about thirty dollars a month I pay for her to turn it on for ten minutes and then forget about it. Yes, you heard me correctly. Three five ooooo, 350, big bucks, hard cash. Which thankfully (Thank you Grandma), I did not pay for. Because it would have been sent back long ago, and I would have been that "horrible mother" that gets jacked when her kid is sixteen for not loving them enough, and giving away their "favorite" toy (that didn't work and they didn't play with.)
Not to say it hasn't been played with. I play with it, my husband plays with it. Atleast we did, because when we spoke with the site about the toys lack of "learning" or changing, they said the more you play with it, the more it does. So for six months straight we did nothing but watch out for it when walking through the living room, move it out of our way during game night and it decided to walk across the monopoly board, or tried to fall off the kitchen table (which it is not supposed to do), talked to it, sang to it, annoyed the cat with it and watched all its paint come off where we touched it too much. Anyways, to the point.
Amazing toy. Not denying that. Worth the $350? Not on your life. Invest in dance, karate, swimming, something that wont just wander around the floor going "hrrmmm...hrmmm" no matter how cute it is.
