Betas are very intelligent and fast learners. The males are the bright and have the flowing fins, the females are usually plain.Never put 2 males or more together in the same tank, they are fighting fish and will fight with each other.if you want to see what they do put a mirror in front of the tank so... review »

I have many of the great reviews on PetSmarts fish. Perhaps it is just my lack of luck that causes me to pick out the wrong fish, however, I have had no luck at all with any of them from the teeny goldfish to the Betas.

Is there a secret to keeping them alive? Of course I've fed them, cleaned their tanks,...

For the last 15 years I have been a loyal customer of PetsMart. From Banfield Vet care to buying a Betta, I have always been a happy customer. l I love the friendly employees! "Mr. Handsome" my new Betta from PetsMart is on my computer desk and loves being home with me. I recently asked one of the store employees at PetsMart if my Betta could have some fish friends. I was told that tropical fish make good betta buddies! I plan on getting a 5 gallon tank, with a small heater to keep the water at 72 degrees for the tropical fish to enjoy. Always provide plants for your Betta to hide in and... review »

The dang thing...  Can't teach it to sit up, beg, roll over or anything.  Just kidding!  He does know when I'm coming with the food though.  Smart little goober.

To the person(s) having a hard time keeping them alive; several points to consider.  #1) When you clean the tank, use a mild detergent, rinse & let dry thoroughly. #2) If you have decorative rocks, BOIL THEM!  Then rinse using cool or cold water in a Mesh Colander.  #3) Feeding; I find feeding mine every other day using five or six Betta Bits works better vs. every day using one or two bits.  He's over a year old & still doing...

My first fish was a Betta fish from PetSmart. He lived for about a year and a half in my care, which is average. PetSmart, like many other pet stores, sells Betta fish that are one to two years old because they have more developed fins. The staff was very helpful. I had a few problems with fin rot, but it was easily fixed. A great first fish, especially if you are interested in small tropical fish such as guppies, mollies and platys.

I have had great luck with fish from Petsmart.  They have been healthy, reasonably priced, and the associates in the fish department seem to be pretty knowledgeable.  The last fish I purchased there was a Beta.  I named him Vincent (thought he only had one ear).  My daughter said she didn't see an ear on the other side either, but oh well, I sure wasn't going to change his name after he seemed to come to the name Vincent.  Nice thing about fish from Petsmart, they all seem healthy.  I have yet to ever see a dead one floating, or even any sick looking fish.  The associate told me that when...

Petsmart Betta fish can be good or bad.  I have gone in there and found beautiful, healthy fish, but I have also seen unhealthy fish.  I also don't like that they keep their fish in cramped quarters.  They have varying prices on their fish.  They fmale, regular male, and crowntail fish.  I wish that they would keep a supply of healthy fish at all times.  They almost get too many fish at one time.  There isn't a possible way to keep that many fish healthy at one time.  I don't want to say that they are all bad. I have several Petsmarts in my town, and they all aren't the same.  Some stores...

I think tetras are great fun.  I bought one for my granddaughter last spring but sadly it died a few days later.  PetSmart was great!  They exchanged it without any problem.  The replacement has thrived.  Now I'm not sure one can say a fish has personality but darn if this one hasn't seemed to have developed one.  He started as a kind of pale, shy little thing but has grown more colorful and out going everyday.  Now he always comes to see us when we walk by or feed him.  He will in fact jump out of the water a little in an effort to get his food.  You don't need and aquarium and the food...

WANT A GREAT EASY PET FOR YOUR CHILD? BUY A BETA FISH, THEY ARE SO EASY TO TAKE CARE OF. YOU FEED IT ONCE A DAY, SOMETIMES YOU CAN GO A DAY OR TWO WITHOUT FEEDING IT. THE MALE FISH HAVE TO BE IN THE BOWL ALONE BECAUSE THEY ARE JAPANESE FIGHTING FISH. THEY ARE USUALLY BLUE IN COLOR AND HAVE A BEAUTIFUL LONG BODY. THEY LIKE THE WARTER TEMPERATURE TO BE WARM AND OURS SEEMS TO LIKE LIGHT.

the beta is a very sturdy and lovable fish pretty much gets along with any other fish as long as its not its own species if it does come in contact with its on breed it inflates itself to look bigger abd prepares to fight to the death so just keep it seperate from any twins of itself and all is well. easy to feed and take care of comes in dark beautiful vibrant colors. love this fish

I got a male Crowntail Betta and a female Roundtail Betta a few months ago. Both are living peacefully in my 30 gal. aquarium. Bettas are very easy to care for and a very hardy fish. I would recommend them for any small or community aquariums. Just be careful when mixing them with fish with long fins (they tend to fin nip, although I havn't had any problems with mine).

I have had myBeta for 6 months,he is beautiful! He is a brilliant ruby color, very nice in contrast to my other fish. The long fins make is so nice to watch in the tank! The colors available for Betas are so deep, nice jewel tones! Easy fish to own, just make sure you only get 1 male, because they will fight each other. Peaceful with my other fish.

I stopped by Pet Smart over 2 years ago in search of a fish for my office. I found a beautiful, orange and red beta fish. I named him George. George comes out of his hiding spot behind some rocks every morning to greet me. When I changed his tank water, he swims laps for me. He has been a great companion and friend in my office.
