P.S. I Love You Review Summary

P.S. I Love You is a "nice change to watch a romantic comedy where you have absolutely no idea where the story is taking you," yet a few Viewpoints reviewers felt it wasn't much of a romantic comedy, as after seeing the film, they felt "drained instead of happy," crying too much throughout. In a completely different role than her turns in Freedom Writers and Million Dollar Baby, Hilary Swank stars as a young widower who becomes a hermit in her own home, until forced out by her mother (Kathy Bates) and notes from her dead husband. All reviewers agree that P.S. I Love You dredges up certain emotions in them and makes them think about life. "P.S. Don't forget your Kleenex."

P.S. I Love You

When the love of your life passes away, what happens?  You become a hermit, never leaving your apartment, trying to hold onto all the precious memories that you made together. Heck, you might not even get to shower or clean your apartment.  That's what  happened to Holly...until the...

The Verdict:  PS I Love You turned out to not be the light romantic comedy my friend and I were hoping it would be.  We both cried too much and left feeling drained instead of happy.

Just the Facts:  This movie didn't really appeal to me all that much but my friend had her heart set on it.  Her...

I'm sure I'm losing quite a few man-points by writing this review, but the catharsis I experienced while watching makes it worthwhile.  P.S. I Love You is by far one of the best movies I've ever seen and certainly among the most touching.  This movie will force you to feel beyond anything you've ever felt before unless you've dealt with the loss of a spouse.  This movie was far different than what i expected.  I thought it'd be another chick flick.  Granted, it had it's male-bashing, estrogen-filled moments, but the storyline was one that anyone can relate to.

Ironically, my wife fell...

This really isn't your typical romantic comedy--it doesn't begin or end the way you'd think it would. I'd tell you why, but I don't want to spoil it for you.

Gerard Butler and Hilary Swank give excellent performances, and the interaction, chemistry, and spark between the two of them really bring this film to life. They are both extremely likeable in this film, and it's cool to see them both in these roles. The filming of Ireland is breathtaking.

Holly (Hilary Swank) is recently widowed from the love of her life (Gerard Butler), and through a series of letters he wrote before he died he manages...

This movie brings you up in the beginning and makes you say "aww."  It introduces this cute young married couple who are hot for each other.  It is a little annoying how perfect they are.  Oh well, someone has to be.  Anyway, they go through a rough time and he leaves her behind.  Before he leaves, he makes arrangements with someone to send her these letters which he had previously written.  These letters force her to do things that she would never do and things that he would force her to do if he were there.  She learns a lot through loss and love to make her into someone who finds themself... review »

I had heard great reviews about the movies, P.S. I Love You. I have had it up to my ears with actions flicks and chidlren's movies since I am always watching them with my boys. The time had come to rent a movie for myself to enjoy. What better way to spend a mom's night in than watching a great romantic movie, right?

I thought that P.S. I Love You fit the bill. I coudlbn't wait to put the kids to bed and get lost in my movie for a couple of hours. I had been fighting a cold and runny nose and just felt like relaxing. P.S. I Love You only made things worse. I cried through pretty much the entire...

The only reason I watched this movie is because I got free HBO for a year and figured I might as well check it out.  I'm usually not into cheesy romance and there are VERY FEW cheesy romances movies that I like.  A cheesy romance only works for me if it has a certain quality about it... this movie did not have that quality.  P.S. I Love You was just too cheesy for me.

The story goes that Holly just lost her husband to a brain tumor.  She's a planner, she can't do anything without a plan, so even though she had warning that he was dying, she just can't move on with her life.  Lucky for her,...

This movie was just so-so for me!  I had a hard time relating to Hilary Swank in a romantic role. Her character's personality just seemed so negative throughout most of the movie, and I didn't really feel any chemistry between her and any of the male characters. The movies's plot was pretty different though. It was kind of a nice change to watch a romantic comedy where you had absolutely no idea where the story was taking you.  If you're into looking at guys with buff bodies, this film had plenty of scenes where you could enjoy that!  LOL  Kathy Bates was great in her role too, and Lisa Kudrow... review »

P.S. I Love You was a very sad movie. I cried through all most the whole thing. I thought it was cool how the husband left her letters, but it just made her not able to let go of him. The end was the most saddest part because it was the last letter, she wouldnt be hearing from him anymore. That was a bad way of moving on. I didnt even want to watch the whole movie. The only thing i could think about throughout the whole movie was how i would feel if my boyfriend died, or i lost some body i really loved and cared about.

this movie is a new favorite for me. i saw the preview and saw it involved music (the main guy is a musician) so thats why i originally wanted to see it. from the very beginning it made me bawl and laugh within the same minutes. i had the tissues by my side by the end of it, and called my boyfriend begging him "not to die." its a chick flick but really does tug on the heart. great soundtrack too. overall a great movie.

This movie was so great! I rented it the first day that it was out and cried my heart out! My husband didn't cry, but did get a little chooked up. PS I love you has funny parts as well! This would be a great movie for everyone and a great addition to your movie collection. This has lots of hope for those that have lost anyone and need to move on.

I was told by several people this was a great chick flick to watch. When my husband was gone for a weekend I rented a few chick flicks. P.S. I love you was one of the DVD's I rented. I will never forget this movie because I have never cried so much watching a movie. Rent it if you need a good cry!

This movie is very moving .....a roller coaster ride of deep emotional love and loss.  We should all be so lucky to find a soul mate that watches out for us both here on earth and from heaven above.  A movie that moves you to think about what is important in life.....Those we LOVE.

This movie is just amazing. I cried through the first six times watching it. I only cried a little on the seventh time.

Now,  I can watch it without crying.

I want my very own Gerry Kennedy. And Hilary Swank's wardrobe rocked!
