It's often warm when camping in the summertime and a fan can come in handy to cool things off. And you almost always need a light too – so how about combing the two into one product? This Ozark Trail Portable Fan/Light does just that, and in a compact size too.

The Ozark Trail Portable Fan/Light operates on 6 D-Cell batteries and has a rather compact 6" X 9" size. The fan/light has a sturdy plastic handle that also doubles as a support for propping-up it up. You can also unfold a plastic piece in the back that will serve as a base. The fan has 2 speeds and both the light and fan operate independently with small switches near the base.

I have found the Ozark Trail Portable Fan/Light most useful in the tent when camping. The fan is good for moving some air around when it is hot, and the fluorescent light is bright enough to read by – but not too bright to hurt your eyes. It's also useful to prop-up on the picnic table.

A few drawbacks to this fan/light combination product also exist though. It's rather heavy when the batteries are installed - probably 2 full pounds. Another drawback is that the fan is not very powerful. Although it has 5 spokes, each one is only about 2 inches long and less than 1 inch wide.

Overall the Ozark Trail Portable Fan/Light is a useful product, but has some shortcomings. I like having a battery operated fan sometimes, especially since I often camp in non-electric sites and if there is no breeze, you can roast. The fluorescent light also comes in handy and it easier to read by than a flashlight. But the whole unit is rather heavy, required six D batteries, and the fan is not powerful enough to move much air.

Thanks for stopping by to see some of my reviews. I hope you get a chance to go camping sometime - and it doesn't rain :)

This would have been nice the last time we camped... alas it rained on us and I was a little worried about having the electric fan in the tent with the extension outside. Great review.

Oh - also. My boys love to camp. Good gift idea as well.

That looks really neat. I must say I don't like to camp. That would be nice outside grilling though esp if dark catches up with me.
