For about $3.50 at Walgreens I purchased a small .47 oz bottle of OxeClean Spray-A-Way Instant Stain Remover. This is a stain remover much like the stain sticks, but this is safe to use on colors. The small size allows the bottle to be placed in your purse, or brief case, and can be kept in desk drawer or glove compartment, basically any where you may want to keep and have it hand when you are away from home. Carrying one in your diaper bag wouldn't be a bad idea either. Bring it along with you on vacation or on a business trip. I know when my husband is going away on a business trip that he likes to pack very lightly so that he doesn't have to check his luggage and wait for it when he gets where he is going. But what happens if he gets a stain on one of he two shirts he brought and the one has already been worn. Now he doesn't have to worry he can just take care stain with some OxeClean Spray-A-Way Instant stain remover and be on his way.
How It Works
When you get a stain on your clothing item first wipe off any excess spillage. Spray OxeClean Spray-A-Way Instant Stain Remover on the stain. Then blot with a clean cloth or napkin to remove the stain.
Now this is supposed to be safe on all fabrics, but testing on an inconspicuous place on the clothing before using this might be a smart idea, just in case. Since this could cause irritation to skin, if you are wearing the clothing item when you spray the stain you may want to fold up a napkin or paper towel and place it between you and the fabric.
This works best on fresh stains so try to take care of those stains right away.
Warnings
Of course common sense tells you to keep this away from children. Also this product contains hydrogen peroxide, so if it gets in the eyes it can cause a great deal of irritation, so be careful how you are spraying it. The manufacturer says that if this does get in your eyes that you should flush out the eye are with water for 15 minutes. After that if the irritation is still occurring you should contact a physician right away.
What Type of Stains Does it Remove
According to the manufacturer OxeClean Spray-A-Way Instant Stain Remover can remove such stains as:
Coffee
Grape juice
Ketchup
Blueberries
Chocolate
Wine
Much more!
My Thoughts and Experiences
Since I am the klutz that I am my little bottle that I carry in my purse has come in handy a few times. I have used this to remove ketchup on both my self and my kids. I have also used this remove salad dressing from my dark colored jeans, the product worked really well. I haven't tried it on chocolate yet, but I am sure that I will have that opportunity soon enough. I will try to update this information as I get to use it on more stains.
This product is very convenient it fits in my purse really nicely, and it doesn't weigh my purse down at all. The price is a little high for the small amount that you get, but I guess you are paying for the convenience, you can also get them in two packs which brings the price per bottle down by .50 to $1.00. Next time I will buy the 2 pack and send a bottle to work with my husband to keep in his desk.
When I was recently out to eat at a restaurant I went to the bathroom and there was a lady in there trying panicking over a stain on her shirt, it looked like spaghetti sauce. I actually pulled the spray bottle out of my purse and handed it to her. She was a little skeptical at first having a stranger give her something like that, but I suggested she try a little on the bottom of the shirt where no one would notice, she did and it was fine. Then she used it on the stain and it came right out. She was so happy, she even had a peace of cake sent over to my table which was nice but totally un-necessary I was just happy to help.
So I do recommend OxeClean Spray-A-Way Instant Stain Remover, not only will it get stains out quickly when you are on the go, but it also might get you a free dessert.
