Over Her Dead Body —

Over Her Dead Body is a recently released DVD/movie (2008) starring Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives).  It is a romantic comedy and I really didn't think my husband was going to sit through this one after seeing the previews, but he surprised me and admitted that this was a pretty good movie.  With that remark, I will say that this movie is not a 100% chick flick!

Plot

The movie opens with wedding preparations.  Kate (Eva Longoria) is marrying Henry (Paul Rudd) and she is running around like a chicken with her head cut off on her wedding day making sure everything is perfect and as she had requested for her big day.  An accident occurs and she is killed.

The rest of the story involves Kate coming back to the real world when she senses that her ex-fiance is starting to have feelings for another woman, Ashley (Lake Bell).  This is when the action starts and the comedy begins.  You see, Ashley is a psychic!

I won't reveal anymore of this story since it is a new movie, and I don't want to spoil it for others.  Over Her Dead Body is directed by Jeff Lowell and is rated PG-13 for language and some sexual scenes.

My Viewpoint

Over Her Dead Body
had a very interesting and different plot and script.  The movie was very entertaining and had lots of laughs.  It also has a romantic thread to it which makes one believe it will be just another typical chick flick.  As I stated earlier, my husband really enjoyed this movie.

I loved the matching up casting did with the actors and actresses for this movie.  Lake Bell was perfect for the part as Ashley, a psychic, She was very convincing in her role and played a major part in making this movie interesting.  Eva Longoria was perfect as Kate.  She brought out some smiles and chuckles throughtout the movie. She's a wonderful actress and fit this part very well.  I also have to mention the part of Dan, played by Jason Biggs.  He really added to the movie in his role as a business partner with Ashley.

If you are looking for a fresh and interesting plot that is also packed with humor, I would definitely recommend Over Her Dead Body.  It is now out on DVD so you can rent if at Blockbuster or put it in your queue at Netflix if you are a member.

Thanks. The part of your review where you describe that Kate comes back to life to find that her ex-fiance has feelings for another woman who's a pcychic....reminds me of a movie with, oh what is her name, ugh, Shelley Long (blonde from "Cheers") comes back , when a psychic type brings her back with some spell, and she finds her husband is now married to someone else...ring a bell? Wish I could remember the name of it.

Sounds good, even though I usually don't watch many romantic comedies. :>
