My mom bought me Diana Gabaldon's Outlander for Christmas in 1998.  She had recently read the book and absolutely fell in love with it.  Well I didn't read it because it didn't sound dreadfully interesting and I was very busy working and in college.  Then in the summer of 2001 two… read full review »

I bought this book looking for something new to read & I didn't finish the book, it didn't keep my attention.  I thought this book would be interesting since when I read the back of the book regarding what it was about it was about things that I like to read about & so I bought it and as… read full review »

Fortunately for me I discovered this series right before the 6th book came out. I don't think I could have stood wondering what was going to happen next while the author finished each book. — What I love about the series is in a word Jamie. What lover of romance stories does not want a totally beautiful strong man who is willing to kill to protect he and her family. He is the ultimate romance novel hero, not perfect, but smart, strong and sexy. — I can not wait for the next book. — On a separate note, I have been trying to fill the time before the next book about… read full review »

This is one of the BEST books Ever!  The story of Claire, who was a nurse during WWII, and married to Frank.  They discover a small hinge (like stone hinge). Later Claire goes back and is drawn, through the stones, to about 200 years before.  Then the adventure goes on and on, and it is a fantastic ride! Read this book and get drawn into the story, and the lives of all the full and complex characters. This book can be read as a stand-alone novel, or you can really get into it with the five follow-up books, and a couple of related novels ( half-siblings so to speak).I have… read full review »

This is one of the best written and best researched books I have ever read.  I read almost every historical fiction I can get my hands on, and this is the best.  Not only are Jamie and Claire intensely real characters, but the historical details are so vibrant and rich, that it really brings the 18th century to life.  Reading this book is like falling through the stones yourself.  The first 50 pages or so may not grab your attention, but if you keep going til the men in kilts show up, i promise your perseverance will be rewarded.  It is easy to fall in love with the… read full review »

Outlander is an awesome book about time travel & romance.  The characters really come to life with all the details that Diana Gabaldon puts into her stories.  Everyone I know that has read this series has fallen in love with it.  I am currently re-reading the entire series and will be starting on the latest book soon.  If you like historical fiction and romance, I highly recommend… read full review »

Travel through time to 18th century Scotland and a place where the Clans still rule.  You'll find plenty of action and adventure to keep you turning pages.  It's a good thing as this is a hefty volume, but don't be deterred.  The momentum of the story, the fine character development and the many true-to-history events will make you happy this is the first in a series of six books with more to… read full review »

Outlander, Diana Gabaldon's first novel in the series, is captivating.  This book is the perfect mix of romance, fantasy, science fiction and drama.  Every scene, every event is so well described, you feel as though you are there.  Gabaldon has all the descriptive powers of Dickens, without the archaic language.  I would recommend this series to anyone who likes to read novels of any… read full review »

I was hesitant to read this book because it was in the "romance" section- romance novels just aren't my thing- but I'm so glad a friend talked me into it.  This book is so exciting, I didn't want to put it down.  I think I read it in less than a weekend, and I was just itching to go out and buy all the sequels- and a kilt for my… read full review »

This is an outstanding book!  The main premise is the main character accidentally travels back in time.  The book is all about her experiences in a world of the past.  A lot of times you just forget about the time travel aspect as the adventure of the story moves you forward. —… read full review »
