I love the Outerbanks

budget conscious traveler, into romantic getaways, love to travel, family traveler

I started visiting the this area about 30 years ago (stayed in the Cape Hatteras area for the first few years) and have not missed a year. Sometimes I go twice a year and have plans to visit this June and July, I love it. I enjoy being staying at different locations (Buxton, Salvo, Avon, Nags Head, Kill Devils Hill, etc) and love the lighthouses. I have seen the growth of the area over the years as well as the prices going up; however you find there where ever you go. If you search around you can find good deals and there are always coupons available for the resturants, shops and entertainment that can help out with the expense. However for the very cost conscious which we somtimes have to be especially when we have several children in the group, it is always just as much fun to buy groceries, eat in and just hang and play on the beautiful beaches. I always go between middle of June, July and sometimes in September and have never run into crowed beaches even in the more popular location of Nags head. Most beaches have rip tips and everyone needs to be responsible for watching their children no matter where you are traveling to.
