A Great Alternative To A KONG Treat Toy

5

Having four large dogs and one small dog presents some problems when they are stuck in the house all day; they aren't destructive but they do get bored. I have several KONG toys that they like to play with and toss around but I got a Buster when I saw someone throwing one around at the dog park. It is similar to a KONG toy but the shape is different. It is easy for a large dog to pick up and carry around and you can throw it but there isn't as much bounce as what you would get from a tennis ball or dog ball. You can put a couple of treats inside the Buster but even without a treat inside, the dogs are almost always picking this up and dropping it down the steps or pushing it around. I think the feel of the plastic and the size of it is what is most appealing to them but that's my assumption, they might like some other aspect of it. They aren't possessive of it and if I tell them to drop it they do so without putting up a fight. The smaller dog always wanted to play with it but be couldn't get it in his mouth so I ended up getting him a smaller one that he would be able to pick up and carry around in his mouth. He is the only one that is in to trying to get a treat out of the Buster. Whether you are looking for a new toy or something that you can put treats in like a KONG, the Buster is well made and will last a long time. My dogs are anything but gentle on their toys and if something lasts six months with them then I feel safe recommending it to other dog owners. Quality of Ingredients It is not edible. Flavor Selection It is not flavored.

Buster Cube slows down our Speed Eater

4

We actually bought the Buster Cube for our first dog over 6 years ago and she wanted nothing to do with it. This dog is very sensitive to noises and the sound of the kibble bouncing around inside the hard plastic maze of the cube, as well as the sound of the cube rolling around on the floor are part of the reason she didn't like it (In my opinion). Three years ago we got a 2nd dog who is very much food driven. We joke his name should be Hoover because he inhales his cup of kibble in under 30 seconds. For his own good, we're always looking for ways to slow his eating down and I remember the Buster cube, which we had held on to. This time "Buster" was a hit. There is a hole on one end of the cube that you put dry dog food (my term is kibble) in to - do not use wet or soft as it will get stuck way inside.  A gentle shake of the cube helps direct the kibble into the maze like interior and then put the Buster cube on the floor.  As your dog pushes the cube around and over, pieces of kibble will escape back out the hole for your dog to eat. There is a way to adjust the amount of kibble that comes out, however, this foodie dog of mine swats and flips this ball over and over so quickly, no adjustment will slow him down. It is a noisy toy, especially when full of kibble floating around as it's being flipped and pushed all over the place, but for dogs with excessive energy and are food driven, it's a great way to use up some of their energy and spread out their feeding.

the dog food cube provides hours of entertainment!

5

We first heard about the food cube from our dog trainer. She looked at all the toys we had and told us that our dog was too smart for these toys and that they wouldn't serve the purpose of distracting her or entertaining her for very long. Also, our dog is VERY food-driven, as in she will do ANYTHING for food. So this was a good way for us to kill two birds with one stone. Mostly (if not always) we put her dog food in there - sort of to make her "work" for her food. The one drawbacks is that it's noisy! It's hard plastic so as the dog bats it around on the floor with his/her paws or nose it hits everything in sight and even the sliding sound can be loud when it's going fast. I wouldn't suggest giving it to your dog when you have dinner guests over or are on a conference call! The other thing that hasn't been a problem for us, but I could foresee it as a problem is that depending what you put inside it - I think it could be hard to clean. But otherwise, GREAT!

Keeps my dog occupied for hours

I have a pit bull that has tons of energy and I don't have much room for him to expel it all so I bought this toy.  The second I put it on the ground he was throwing it all around the room.  The great thing about this toy is his dog food fits in it.  He eats very fast and this is a great way to get him to slow down, usually only 4 or 5 pieces fall out at a time (if that) so I don't have to worry about him trying to swollow his whole bowl of dog food at once.  The food gets lodged in there pretty good so it takes him a fair amount of time for him to get it all out.  It's great exercise for him.  The one thing to note is though, it is very loud.  With the dog food in there rattling around it gets very noisy not to mention him throwing it all over the house to try to get the food out.  I try to keep him contained to one area but that only works for so long.  Also it is kind of difficult to get the center piece to pull up at first to get the remaining food out, now that I've had mine for awhile and it's pretty broken in its no problem but when I first bought it I had a tough time getting it open.
