Sandboxie is a great, small program that creates a "sandbox" within your computer. What that means, is that a separate virtual area is created in your PC that is apart from your hard drive. This means when you surf the net or download programs and they have a virus or spyware within them, your computer is safe. All you do is delete your sandbox and it is gone.
No more having to spend hours or days trying to rid your computer of those sometime hard to remove nasties.
I belong to a forum who helps users remove spyware and viruses from computers (Temerc.com). Tom, who runs the site, is constantly visiting known malicious websites, purposely infecting his computer so he can help others.
He has NEVER had a virus or spyware get past Sandboxie!
Sandboxie is award winning and the developer Ronen Tzur is constantly improving Sandboxie and make it more user friendly.
Sandboxie can be a bit difficult for people who want to keep the programs they download into the sandbox, because unlike other programs you have to find it in the sandbox and move it into your "real" computer. But, when you delete the contents of the sandbox, it will ask you if you want to keep the downloads and asks you where you want to put them, which is much easier.
EDIT: The latest version now makes it much easier to locate and save downloaded files.
For help, you can go to the Sandboxie forum, which is monitored by the developer and you can get friendly, timely help, no matter what level of computer experience you have.
Sandboxie is free, but if you like it, the developer asks you to register the program for a small fee. There is no pressure to do so. If you do, you can get a few more features. By the way, unlike most programs that you have to keep paying every year, this fee is good for a lifetime.
All of us are always concerned about getting a virus from websites and email. Sandboxie can give you peace of mind.
I would suggest having one of the free Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus programs just to be sure, but now-days Sandboxie is something everyone should have.
