A couple years ago, someone gave me an Osterizer 16 Speed Blender which thrilled me to death at first.  Somehow, I never did get around to trying it right away and eventually I hid it under a protective quilted cover and shoved it to one side on my kitchen counter where it became barricaded or buried under other kitchen trivia and utensils.  It wasn't until the other day when I read CountryMama's review about HER blender that I dug my own out and decided to use it.

The Osterizer 16 Speed Blender is a Super-Gizmo for sure, programmed as it is to perform the vital tasks of crushing ice, grating, blending, shredding, grinding, mashing, liquefying, Frappe(ing?), pulsing, stirring, beating, pureeing, chopping, whipping and mixing.  There is also another task called "Easy Clean" which is something of a mystery as naturally, I did not store whatever instruction manual may have existed with the machine which means I will have to "play it by ear" for a while.

MY VIEWPOINT:

Last night I used my Osterizer 16 Speed Blender for the first time to try out the Yoplait Smoothie Mix.  Although the instructions for the mix called for just blending the fruit with milk, I took it a step farther and first crushed a cup of ice, THEN added the fruit mix and a cup of milk, and hit "Blend" for a frantic minute or two before I could figure out how to turn the darned thing OFF.  The end result of this was lovely -- two beautiful, thick, frosty smoothies every bit as good as those $4.95 Strawberry Banana Vivanno numbers from Starbuck's.  My next experiment is going to be simply blending ice, milk, a banana and berries to see what happens.  Now that I have gone the distance and plugged the gol-darned thing IN, I can see that the sky is the limit as far as adventures with my Osterizer 16 Blend Mixer are concerned.

I think the 16 speeds include things like slicing, chopping, pureeing and what not. WISH I COULD FIND THE USER MANUAL. I know it is here someplace!

Hi Anna, we have a juicer. Oh carrots - just carrots are so sweet! I've used though all kids of veggies in it. Enjoy - I guess they can be made in a blender??

I bet you make some spectacular smoothies too, Jo!

You know what I'm hunkering to make -- have you ever tried this -- my OWN vegetable juice! You know, like V8 but mine would be more like V4 or 5, I guess, but doesn't that sound good -- fresh vegetable juice?

Well, take care!

I wish I knew more about this "Easy Clean" feature. I think I may be able to figure it out.

I wonder where my mixer is? Hmmm... Could be anywhere. I hate to wash it out after I use it so I don't use it. lol.
