This blender crushes ice really well and is great for making smoothies. I am not much of a cook myself, but it is simple for me to use and my smoothies always turn out great. It can be difficult to clean, though just as much as any blender would be i suppose, and while the limited number of functions/buttons makes for easier use, the lack of options can be frustrating. Blending Power The blender crushes ice very well without leaving any big pieces. Similar for blending fruit for smoothies, though occasionally a larger piece of fruit is left behind. Versatility I have not attempted to use it for much more than crushing ice and smoothies, so i can only speak to its versatility so much. Ease of Cleaning The blades are hard to clean and it is difficult to get inside on the bottom. The glass jar portion cleans well in a dishwasher. Ease of Use Buttons are easy to press and the functions are very intuitive. Durability We have only owned it for a year and a half, and have had absolutely no problems at all.

Love this blender. It does what I need and love that its not too loud. Some blenders are outrageously loud and doesn't blend well. I've bought few blenders in my life and they've been disappointing. Luckily I've found this blender and of course got a sweet deal with it from kohls on sale plus using a coupon. Love it whenever I find great deals. I've used it making my cheddar broccoli soup more pureed. I also blended pomegranate seeds to mix with my sparkling water drink. I've also used this blender to make seasoned breadcrumbs. I've made different smoothies and green detox smoothies. I haven't had any issues with it so far. I enjoy the variety of features of this blender. And it's a glass blender. I definitely would recommend this lovely blender to family, friends @and whoever is looking for a nice and affordable blender. They also sell this blender at walmart online. My husband bought this Oster Blender for me.  I had two others, but they both died.  I received the stainless steele blender. It is a really nice looking one.  It is a very simple blender to use.  There is a pulse button that allows you to leave the room while it pulses.  It will go off automatically after a few seconds.  There is a Manual row that allows you to put the blender on Low, Med, or High.  Below that there is a Programs row which has two settings.  Ice Crush and Frozen Drinks.  These are both automatic and will cut off by themselves once they finish their cycle.  The Frozen Drink program is really neat for making slushy type of drinks.  Love it!  There are a couple of cons to the blender.  One is cleaning.  In theory, unscrewing the botton and taking the blades out is easy.  This one does not allow much room for fingers to get in to unscrew.  I've noticed if you are making something heavy, the blades don't get all the way clean.  The other con is that it's really loud.  But I think most blenders are really loud.  Overall, not a bad blender to get.  The price was reasonable as well.

We have not have this blender very long, probably about 3 months, but it works very well.  This blender has six speed settings, three manual (low, medium and high) and two programmed settings (ice crush and frozen drinks).  There is also a pulse setting. So far we have made pumpkin soup, many smoothies and a daiquiri with this blender.  The soup came out very creamy and was perfect.  The smoothies also blend really well, it manages to pull the ice down and chop it up, although every once in a while there are a couple of small chunks of ice that sneak through.  Also, if you make your smoothies thick, it will take a while to blend them up.  Oster's blender is also easy to clean as long as you clean it right after you use it.  I do wish that the spout was slightly larger, but it works perfectly fine the way it is. It is made out of stainless steel, shiny black plastic and the pitcher is madeof glass, so it looks good on the counter.  We got ours on sale, and I like it.  I have only owned one other blender and this one is much nicer than my last last one.

When searching for a blender to make smoothies and frappachinos with I looked for power and a well known name that stood for quality. I have always loved Oster kitchen appliances and decided to stick with them. I was also sticking with a stainless steel design as my major appliances are all stainless steel. I decided on the Oster Electronic Control Designer Series Blender as it had plenty of power for crushing ice, the stainless steel exterior, the glass blender jar as opposed to plastic and of course the well known for quality Oster name. It does work BEAUTIFULLY! It makes amazing smoothies and frappachinos as well as anything else I want to use it for. But I have a problem with one design flaw. It has a square base! Inside this square base is the round threaded jar nut to remove to clean the blade. It is VERY hard to remove as there is no access to get your hand around the nut! I do not have large hands but I still cannot get my hand in there to remove this nut for cleaning. I have to be able to remove it just with finger tip strength which is hard for me. I am very careful to not over tighten it after cleaning so I can remove it...but it is not easy. So anyone with arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome or any other issues that makes your hands weak will have a lot of trouble taking this one apart for cleaning.
