I love this gadget. I had been looking for a rice steamer where once I am done I can actually take the cooked product with me. I found this one and instantly purchased it. it is a little small for my taste, however the benefit of being able to take rice dishes with me made it a smart purchase. Performance It works great. It steams the rice evenly so there are no bits of uncooked rice mixed in with cooked rice when you are done. I like that the rice is fluffy and separated and not compacted and sticky. Ease of Cleaning Very easy to clean. I just wipe it down with a damp cloth and put it away. Ease of Use For this unit all that needs to be done is to set the timer and forget about it. Durability Very durable unit when it is used for what it intended for. It is not a heavy duty steamer. You do have to be careful to be exact in how much you put in though Design I like the design of this unit. My steamer is actually red so it fits very well with my kitchen décor. I like that it is small and compact and does not take up a lot of space on the counter tops.

I really like this rice cooker although most of the time I use it to steam vegetables. The size is perfect - it takes up very little space and the parts store inside of the unit when not in use. It cooks quickly, cleans easily and can steam vegetables. That's about all that I really wanted in a steamer. Performance I watch the unit to make sure that it switches from steam to warm as I really don't trust it but thus far it changes automatically. I do caution everyone when you raise the lid as steam can really burn. Ease of Cleaning This is one of the easiest pans that I have ever cleaned. The lid is glass and probably could go in the dishwasher however the frame looks like it would discolor so I hand wash the whole thing. The good thing is nothing sticks so it is easy to clean up. Ease of Use This is really a easy to use pan. It is just add your veggies' or rice, a small amount of water, your seasoning, turn it on and it shuts off automatically when the water level is reached. Then it switches to warm and can stay there while you do your last minute preparation. Durability This cute little red rice cooker and steamer gets used several times a week and shows no sign of not continuing to work. Design Good design and I think this is a great pan for those that like their vegetables. Less calories, better health,.

I don't make a lot of rice, so didn't want to spend a whole lot of money on one, so purchased this Panasonic rice cooker. It was relatively cheap, but it really does a good job of cooking the rice. Since I don't like "one trick pony" appliances in my small kitchen, I use the steam basket to steam vegetables like broccoli, asparagus or green beans. I've even steamed artichokes in it, and set a bowl on top as a double boiler to make hollandaise sauce. Ease of Use This unit is very easy to use. There are graduated lines on the inside of the steamer bowl so you can measure water without having to get out the measuring cups. It basically has an on and an off so there's no fussing with temperatures. Yet, it reaches the right temperature and stays there until the rice is cooked. Design You have to remember this is a low end model and there is no temperature control or timer so you have to keep an eye on things. But, for the price it works well.

This is a great rice cooker for both white and brown rice and cooks the rice super fast which is great when you are in a hurry. However, if you want to steam veggies on the top it is best to start on that first and then add rice minutes later to avoid burning the rice. I have not tried any of the recipes in the little booklet and have not tried any flavor rices with it either cause I stick with plan rices. This cooker is small and can make a good amount of rice but the veggie tray on top is pretty small and is not really for a family of more than three. I think overall this is a great rice cooker and I definitely use this item more than I do anything else in my kitchen. The only con is the steaming tray, I think that its a little cheaply made and in time will only get ugly and stained as mine has for being used alot but I can get over it as long as it is still usable. And the lid is another con, as it is small height wise so piling on the veggies is a no because then it will not close.

This was purchased to replace our old rice cooker. I did a fair amount of research and this got good reviews and was a fair price. The rice cooker and steamer both do a good job, but our button is so hard to get to stay down. This was a problem with our old rice cooker, so it was a disappointment when this issue popped up again. It takes about 10 tries to get it to go from the "warm" to "cook" position. But once it (finally) does, the rice cooks well, and the steamer is a nice option and makes healthy eating easier. Performance The button is hard to get to click into place, but once it does, this rice cooker does a good job. It cooks rice, quinoa and lentils quickly and efficiently. Ease of Cleaning This is very easy to clean. I rarely throw it into the dishwasher because it just takes a quick swipe with a kitchen brush to get clean. Ease of Use This makes cooking spanish rice or quinoa quick and easy. It takes about 20 minutes and you don't have to keep an eye on it. Durability This seems like it will hold up well over time, although I might replace with a higher end model since the cook button is such a pain. Design I like the steaming option, but having the button not work is a major design flaw. I thought it was broken for the first few days because I couldn't get it in the cook position.

We have been very pleased with this rice cooker. It is small and can fit in the smallest of spaces. It comes with a paddle and a measuring cup. After 15 minutes you have to life the lid and stir the rice so that it does not stick to the sides. I am unsure if this is the case with more expensive models. I feel like it is not a big deal! The directions state how much rice and water to add for different types of rice. There is an automatic warming feature that turns on after your rice is cooked. I feel like it is a very good value for how much it costs, considering you do not need to buy the quick cooking rice any more. I only wish it were a little bigger so that I could cook a larger quantity. However, the cook time is pretty short so you can just start another batch if you need to. I really enjoy this little gadget and it is sure nice to have on hand so that I do not have to stove top cook our rice!

I own a 2 cup capacity rice cooker for 5 years now, and use it everyday for cooking white and brown rice. You cannot go wrong purchasing it, it is so cute and so easy to clean too. Rice does not burn and always yields fluffy texture. The warm feature is great too. I can leave cold rice and set it on for warm, and it does the job.

Being asian, rice is a staple in most meals, hence I found this when I was out searching for an affordable rice-cooker. Cooking using a traditional stove top pot was too difficult. This was a surprisingly good buy for a cheap price. you can even attach the steamer on top of the rice cooker to steam bao (chinese bun) , a plate of dumplings, or fish, for a quick and healthy meal! What I found to be another useful use for it was to use it like a hot pot and use for steamboat with a friend, where we can put in mushrooms, fishballs, meat and vegetables in with noodles for a hot pot type of meal, especially during the winter months! What amazes and surprised me was that despite it was sold cheaply, it had lasted for a few years without breaking down.

We got this rice cooker from my stepdaughter for Christmas. She bought it because we make rice for our dogs every day. One has special diet needs and allergies, so they get rice and protein twice a day. I like the rice cooker very much. It keeps me from having to boil water and time the rice. When it is done it just changes over to warm and keeps it warm for me. It makes enough each time for me to have 2 feedings, so I am using the rice maker daily. The cleanup of the rice cooker is very easy and doesn't need to soak to come clean. It is also very simple to use and comes with a special measuring cup hat makes it super simple to get the measurements right. I would recommend this cooker to anyone who cooks a lot of rice for any reason.

The Oster 3-Cup Rice Cooker and Steamer exemplifies a classic case of "you get what you pay for." After using the Oster Rice Cooker for two months, I have come to the conclusion that those who purchase this appliance are either: on a tight budget and therefore unable to splurge for a more worthwhile rice cooker OR they do not eat rice often enough to know or care for well cooked rice. At first the Oster Rice Cooker seemed to be ideal in its affordability, modern color and design and smaller size. However, I quickly learned that color, design and size are a non-issue when it comes to making quality and fluffy rice. As for the cost, I sadly learned the hard way that there is usually a good reason why an item is so cheap compared to its competitors. The rice cooker deserves some credit as it does succeed in cooking rice. However, the non-stick coating of the cooker does not live up to its name and a layer of brown, hardened rice always grips onto the bottom. In addition, the cooker creates a mess while cooking rice or steaming vegetables and causes wet, bubbly steam to to spatter out of the top. For those reasons alone, the Oster Rice Cooker and Steamer is nothing more than a basic, budget appliance.
