Oster Toaster worked well for one year, then quit!

2

This toaster was pretty good while it worked. The different options made it very versatile (toast, warm, frozen, bagel, waffle), and it also had a cancel button that is handy for when you want to stop toasting before the timer is done. It toasted evenly. And it looked nice. But it was cheaply made. It felt cheap straight out of the box. (And it was inexpensive, so that's probably why!) Also, it didn't fit wide-pan bread very well, which is something we eat quite frequently. We kind of had to smoosh it in there, which was anything but idea. And again, it quit working after about 15 months. I suppose when I consider the price, I should be thankful I got 15 months out of it, but I miss the days when you could use an appliance for years and even decades before it finally kicked the bucket. They just don't make things like they used to! ;)

Two options: not toasted or burnt to a crisp

This toaster either fries your toast or does nothing.  Usually it fries it because if you put it on anything other than the lowest setting, it comes out crispy brown to black.  I spend way too much time attempting to find the perfect setting which apparently doesn't exist.  Don't waste your money on this product!

This toaster lacks performance of it's main function.

Oster two slice toaster review: The machine seems to not be balanced for the main function I purchased it for.  It toasts dark on only one side of toast. So much so, that it's necessary to eject and flip the toast so that the other side of the food item gets toasted.  It's the worst small home appliance that I've ever purchased. The main function of the machine does not perform.  Because of this needed method, it takes twice as long to deliver a two sided toasted product.  Oster, "what were you thinking!!"  Was this annoying little machine ever tested before it went to market?  Did you think that you could fool us with the quilt-stamped, sleek texture and that we wouldn't notice that the it didn't toast efficiently?  I would have taken it back to return, but unfortunately, it sat in a box for three months before it was used.  Oster, you have failed with this performance. You talked the talk, but your toaster didn't walk the walk.

This toaster is really bad

I got this toaster because i'm a broke college student and I needed a cheap toaster for my first apartment. This toaster is not good at all, everytime i use it I can smell something burning, but nothing ever actually catches on fire. The things that really gets me about this toaster is that the bread doesn't even fit in it, the top sticks out and never gets toaster. I really shouldn;t have gotten this toaster and spent the extra ten bucks to get a good one, but for some reason i got this one and i regret it. I don't even trust this thing to be plugged in when i'm not in the apartment, because i don't want it to get crazy and burn my apartment complex down. Another this that is really bad about this toaster is that it does no contain the srumbs at ALL. There are crumbs all over my counter, and it never stays clean because if you barely knock the toaster crumbs will fall out the bottom and you're stuck with a really annoying mess.

The additional features are nice.

The bagel setting is what caught my eye, being that I make my own bagels (as well as buy the best ones out there).  Our previous toaster frequently smooshed the bagel or the bagel would get stuck in the tiny slots.  This toaster has slots big enough that this isn't a worry. The bagel button that you push actually makes the toaster heat only one side, so you need to figure out which side that is before using it.  I personally, want both sides heated for my bagel, but my husband loves this feature. The second feature that prompted this purchase, was the frozen button for frozen bagels and pastries and bread that you forgot to take out of the freezer and thaw.  Unfortunately, I wasn't too impressed with the frozen setting, and have just used the regular toasting setting instead, however, my kids do like the frozen setting on their bagels, so I guess it's personal choice.  The crumbs that get collected on the bottom of the toaster are fairly easy to clean out.
