Our last rice cooker died and it was a real tragedy, because we love to make rice and steam veggies. Making rice the traditional way on the stove is a pain and takes forever. My husband got this rice cooker (in red!) as a gift and we both love it. It makes great rice every time and it doesn't stick to the pot like our old one did, because it wasn't non-stick. Though we have yet to fully test out the steamer basket with a variety of vegetables, the times we HAVE used it it has worked fantastic. This cooker takes up little space, makes a lot of rice (if you eat a lot of rice at once or love to make sushi) and cleans up super easy. The lid, the steamer basket and the pot fit right in the dishwasher, which is really convenient. We love it...and not just because it's red!

The rice cooker was given to me for my birthday a few years ago. It has saved me alot of time that I truely don't have. Most of a meal could be cooked at one time without having to spend hours washing dishes. I'm the mother of two teenaged boys that are always hungry with the rice cooker most of the meal is cooked and ready to serve in about twenty minutes. The best part is that you no longer need a crock pot a deep fryer and the rice cooker. This little cooker does the work of all of them, plus you can steam your vegetables while your rice is cooking by adding the steamer basket over the rice then your rice and vegetables will be done at the same time. It fries as well as the deep fryers, It also can take the place of a slow cooker. Just set the temp to warm and cover your roast and six hours later it is ready to be served. The only thing that it can't do is bake things. This has been a real big time saver for me. I've had to work two jobs to support my sons so I valued the little bit of time that I had with my sons. I was able to get a little more quality time with them after I got this great present. I would recommend the rice cooker to anyone that lives a fast paced life and needs to find a bit more time for themselves or their families. I would also recommend it to anyone who doesn;t like the hassle of cooking time for the simple fact that it has always taken too long standing over a hot stove. Now all you have to do is add your food, water, salt and other seasonings and walk away . Twenty minutes later it will pop up to the warming setting , it will stay at that setting until you decide to turn it off. So if you aren't quite ready to eat when it dings , you can leave it on warm until you are ready to eat. You won't have to reheat your food because it's still warm. It cuts out dried out foods that has to be reheated in the microwave. It holds the flavor of the food for you. This cooker was so simple to use that I taught my sons to cook in it so I didn't have to worry if they might burn the house down while I was at work.My ex husband was even able to learn how to cook simple things.He was the type of man that thought cooking was beneath him because that was a womans job. His primary goal was to learn how to cook simple dishes. With the help of this great product, he taught himself that he could depend on himself instead of relying on me for everything that he ate. It's easy enough to use that my oldest son who is special needs learned to cook things in it. Cleanup is the simplest I've run across. After dinner all you do is pull the ceramic pot out and wash it . Put it back together and the pots are done.It cuts down on clean up times because you only use one pot instead of two or three. If you have leftovers just pull the ceramic pot out put the lid on it and stick it in the fridge. No more storage containers sitting around. You will also have more cabinet room because it takes the places of the deep fryer, vegetable steamer, and the slow cooker. No more foods that have no taste because you have to nuke to get it warm .

My Oster Rice Cooker was shipped to me as a credit card reward. We eat so much rice, I got tired of boiling in bags and in the microwave. I thought if I got a rice cooker I would be able to save money buying larger bags (5 lb or more). My first try was a miss. You have two choices, keep warm and cook. Either I did not have enough water (followed directions, I did) or too much rice (used measuring cup). Bottom line is my rice was very well cooked but it had stuck to the bottom of the cooker. Perhaps it was dropped during shipping or mishandled at a transport stop. I was able to solve the problem by checking on the cooking process just before the bell sounded. Oops, I forgot to mention that it does sound a bell and switches from cook to keep warm automatically. It comes with a steamer to cook vegetables and fish. The top is glass with a well placed vent. It includes a product instruction booklet that contains recipes for different dishes. The rice pan is removeable and very easy to clean. There is also a plastic spoon for stirring and serving. The heatlng element is located in the middle of the ricer and the rice pan balances on top of it. There is a notice in the booklet that advises you to make sure the pan is well balanced to insure proper cooking. Overall I am pleased with my Oster Rice Cooker and would recommend it.

   If you want to start cooking healthier for your family the Oster Rice Cooker/Steamer is a must! I absolutely love it!    I'm sure we've all heard of products claiming "you can set it and forget it", we'll this is one you actually can. That's why I love it so much!    I don't know why, when I made rice it just would never come out right every time. Sometimes it was okay. Other times it was either too mushy or I cooked it too long and it was part stuck to the bottom of the pan. I needed help!    My friend said I should get a rice cooker. I never really thought about getting one before, because I never thought of buying an appliance that could only make one thing, but we do eat rice kind of often, so I decided to look into it.    When I found the Oster Rice Cooker/Steamer I figured, I could at least do a little more than just make rice with it, so I bought it. It's one of the best purchases I've ever made!  When I started realizing all the different thing I could make with it, it changed my way of cooking. We eat more rice and steamed vegetables now. Not only is it healthy, but more importantly, my family loves it and the food tastes great!    As 'they' say, "it's all good!" The price, the taste results, a healthier way of cooking, and even easy clean up! If you have one already, I'm sure you'd agree. And if you don't have one yet, what are you waiting for?
