Orijen Puppy Dry Dog Food

Our last dog which died over 10 years ago, just ate the name brand garbage that you could buy at the grocery store that was full of corn and fillers. I didn't know any better back then. When I got my puppy 4 months ago I started to do a lot of research about dogs, and especially what you feed them. I was horrifed to learn what most "popular" 'brands contain. They are filled with corn and wheat and unnatural ingredients that dogs can't even digest. Then I found Orijen. This food comes from a company that is honest, has integrity and truly tries to give our pets the best possible diet. They do not outsource their food, nothing made out of North America, all the ingredients are fresh and meet human grade standards. My puppy loves his Orijen dog food, and is happy each time I put down his dish filled with it. I can be confident that I am not only feeding my dog the very best food there is, but I am supporting jobs staying in North America.

If you did your research you know this is a high quality kibble.

Orijen, in my opinion, is the next best thing to raw feeding. It is packed full of protein and real meat with none of that corn and filler stuff that you get in brands like Purina. This is a high quality kibble that you feel to your puppy if you want him or her to grow up healthy and strong. Orijen is a kibble that is higher in protein than most other brands, so when you make the switch you want to do it super slowly, mixing in small amounts into your original kibble for a few weeks before you finally give them all Orijen. When I first switched to Orijen from Beneful, my puppy had the runs. I was mixing in a 1/4 a cup of Orijen and slowly increasing the amount by the week. I was told that since Beneful was mostly corn filler, I would have to go extra slow because Orijen was so different. Orijen is made with quality ingredients and let my dog have a wonderful shiny coat. Orijen is pretty expensive, but because it is so nutritious, you don't need to feel a lot. I highly recommend this kibble!

Nuclear Farts

We read all of the reviews and heard great things about Orijen, so we tried the puppy version with our 5 month old mini Schnauzer puppy. He seemed to like it, but the gas our cute little critter produced is beyond description. We stuck with it for a bag of Orijen thinking it might get better over time and even tried it a second bag...however, it did not change. Overall it was an expensive, gassy experiment. We went back to Science Diet, the food we gave our previous Schnauzer who lived until age 15. Our new guy likes Science Diet just as much as Orijen and no more nuclear farts with SD. I once heard, "Feed Your Pet or Feed Your Vet".  Which explained, meant I could spend money now on my puppy to ensure proper nutrition and development or I could spend tons of money later on numerous vet bills.  I had rescued a dog that was malnourished and abused.  I was uneducated about pet food and pet health issues.  I believed a lot of what the brands at the grocery store had printed on their bags.  My dog developed allergies and a lot of health issues. Now that my eyes are open to the pet industry, I fully understand that above statement.  Orijen is an outstanding food.  Champion Pet Foods, the makers of Orijen, only use high quality ingredients from reliable sources.  They manufacture the food in their own facility.  Champion Pet Food is knowledgeable about pet nutrition.  I trust this brand, which in this day and age I can't say about many manufacturers. I tell all my friends to get a trial size bag first to make sure their puppy likes the taste.  The puppy formula contains the folowing protein sources: chicken, turkey, fish, and whole egg.  This food is grain-free, high in protein, does not contain filler ingredients and wins pet food awards.  I highly recommend it.

At the beginning of this year, I got the first dog I've owned as an "adult." As a teen, I took care of the family dog, but I did not put much thought into what food I purchased for him. This time around, I did research into what puppy food to buy, since I had never purchased food for a puppy before. I was really surprised at what I found! To be honest, I was a bad (uninformed) consumer who just went along with whatever the dog food commercials said was healthy.  When looking for foods, I was specifically looking for a grain-free or low-grain food without many artificial ingredients. Also, I wanted to avoid filler ingredients were not nutritionally beneficial to puppies and only served as a cheap ingredient for the manufacturer to include. I read reviews on dog message boards and Orijen was constantly mentioned as a superior choice. The website Dog Food Analysis ranks it as a 6 star dry food (the highest ranking available). After a week or so of researching, I bought Orijen. For the few weeks I spent deciding what food to feed her (before I purchased Orijen) I fed my puppy home-cooked meals (nutritionally balanced recipes that followed a veterinarian's guidelines). When I purchased the Orijen Puppy formula, I was afraid my puppy was going to have a tough time transitioning from tastyhome-cooked food to dry kibble, but I was wrong! She loved the food.  While she was fed Orijen, she had plenty of energy and her coat was super soft, shiny, and beautiful. She was always excited at meal time. The only reason she isn't being fed Orijen now is because the nearest retailer is 2 hours away! I'll be picking up another bag the next time I'm in town. I wouldn't even add the cost of Orijen as a negative attribute. Your dog deserves what is best.
