Oriental Trading Company —

Sometimes things can get a little complicated for Santa at this time of year.  As one of the grand old man's personal shoppers, part of my assignment each year is buying gifts for three little girls in Michigan.  I always make it a point to give each child an identical gift.  When they were younger, this was easy -- they all got "little girl" things like dolls, coloring books, story books, school supplies, gingerbread house kits, etc.  I noticed that they especially enjoyed things which were personalized.

Now that the oldest girl is a bright, sophisticated eleven-year-old and the others are ten and eight, it isn't easy finding something identical for the three of them that each would really enjoy.  Thanks to the Oriental Trading Company, I have solved this problem.  This Christmas, each girl is going to receive a green vinyl album personalized with her first name embossed in gold on the cover for her to use as a personal scrapbook, a place to keep photos, clippings, party invitations, and other personal keepsakes as souvenirs of the exciting life's journey which lays ahead.  The albums measure 12" x 12", come in three colors (dark green, burgundy, and navy blue) and cost $11.99 each (including personalization up to 12 letters).  They are attractive and hopefully will be fun to work with now, but simple and sophisticated enough to serve as a transitional lifelong treasure for each young lady.  (Extra sets of ten 12" x 12" page protectors are $4.99.)

The Oriental Trading Company also carrys a complete line of scrapbooking accessories including stickers, decorations and 12" x 12" page inserts made of really beautiful construction paper in great colors.

Tis the season to shop at Oriental Trading ;+) I think this is the 3rd review I have commented on ;+) When I taught 4-year-olds I used to order from them all the time. I liked the fact that you could order in bulk and the kids loved the products. Great review! ~Gigi

I used to shop at Oriental Trading Company all the time. I don't know why I don't anymore. I'll have to give them a look again.

I used to order many things from the Oriental Trading Company. They have a good variety. You are a very thoughtful creative Santa's helper!

In response to LisaCarey's comment from Dec 3, 2008 at 12:06PM:

I know you must be very creative. Isn't it wonderful that there is a place like Oriental Trading. It's nice that you can buy a whole bunch of materials for a reasonable price. This place must be a Godsend for teachers and Girl Scout leaders. I think Meri said she used to be a troop leader and used O.T. a lot. I bet the things you make are really nice! Thanks for reading the review!

I just finished creating gingerbread man coat/lapel pins they are so cute. Last year we made the santa ones --- someone stopped me in the mall the other day and asked where I got it -- was shocked that I made it thanks to oriental trading -my year round source for crafts and gifts. great review

Now that's a great gift idea. I just placed an order for items to put in Christmas stockings for my many nieces. It's a good place to shop when you need a LOT of little treasures. :)

Back in the day when I was a Girl Scout leader we would buy things from The Oriental Trading Company in bulk for carnivals, etc. I didn't realize they've branched out into scrapbooks, etc. I will have to revisit them. Thanks, Anna.
