Organic Essentials Cotton Balls —

We always have cotton balls in our house. I try to buy organic products as much as I can. When I saw Organic Essentials Cotton Balls in my local grocery store I bought them. At about $2.50 for 80 balls they are significantly more expensive than conventional cotton balls. You can buy 200 by Johnson & Johnson for that price. Organic products are much more expensive than conventional so I’m used to the price differences.

Organic Essentials begin in 1996. This is a farmer owned company. Organic Essentials uses virgin staple fiber which the company claims is higher quality fiber. This fiber they say on the bag makes the cotton balls softer. They don’t fall apart, are soft and more absorbent.

These come in a reclosable, recyclable bag.

They are Certified Organic by Quality Certification Services.

"Organic cotton is different than conventional cotton because the farming methods replenish the soil, protect the purity of air, water and food supplies, and preserve precious resources."

The company makes other products such as nursing pads and cotton swabs.

I know you can’t wait to read if there is a difference

I happen to have a bag of CVS triple size cotton balls for which I probably paid $.99. Organic Essentials are also triple size. These are large. They measure 1 ¼ by 1 ½ inches. There is no question that the ball in my left hand is markedly softer. If you don’t care about organic items but have sensitive skin or a baby you will want to buy Organic Essentials.

They do pull apart easier than the CVS brand but I have to pull the ball. It isn’t falling apart as I hold it. What’s really interesting to me is that they look different. The Organic Essentials have small pieces of cotton within the ball. The CVS brand doesn’t. I can compare it to processes versus non-processed food items.

I was certain there would be a difference in the absorption capabilities. I just walked over to the sink and wet them both. There was no difference in how they absorbed the water. I did find though that the Organic Essential cotton ball became smaller than the conventional one.

My thoughts

If I weren’t trying to make my life as organic as possible sure I’d save the money and buy the CVS brand. I don’t have a baby at home though my skin can be sensitive. After this review I won’t go back to conventional cotton balls. Thumbs Up to Organic Essentials.
