Oreck 2 Speed Ironman Canister Vacuum —

Oreck 2 Speed Ironman Canister Vacuum

Several years before Iron Man the movie, I had my own Ironman.  I loved the movie and I really like my Oreck Ironman Canister Vacuum.  Like Tony Stark, my Ironman is overall good and very handy but also like Tony Stark, it has a couple of flaws.

We purchased the 2 Speed Ironman Canister Vacuum for two purposes: to have a lightweight vacuum for doing the large stone hearth around our wood-stove and to do the carpeted stairwell and landing with out having to lug out a heavy vacuum. My Oreck 2 Speed Ironman Canister vacuum has served both of those purposes well and I have also found it convenient to use in many other places as well.

Features of the 2 Speed Oreck Ironman Canister Vacuum:
1,000 watt motor
light weight at 7 lbs.
rolls easily or light enough to carry
works on carpet or bare floors
quiet*
2 extensions
4 attachments

We got a 30 day risk free trial and a three year warranty that we've yet to need.

Although we originally purchased this Oreck Ironman to use on the hearth and stairs, I have found it really convenient to use for many purposes.  I use the extensions for cobwebs in corners, baseboards, appliance return vents and ceiling fans.

Our home has large open spaces and I still prefer an upright with a larger vacuuming service for the majority of the house but I have found I use this one much more than I anticipated.  It is perfect for the kids to do their own rooms because it is light weight enough for them to easily handle and it is great for going under beds and furniture where no upright has ever fit.

If you're only doing relatively smaller areas and light weight is key for you then the 2 Speed Oreck Ironman Canister could work well as your only vacuum and be your own personal Ironman to defeat dirt bags everywhere.

Like Tony Stark, even the great vacuum heroes have flaws.

My Oreck Ironman has a wrap around cord feature instead of a automatic rewind.  Call me spoiled but I love a cord sucker upper thingy on my vacuums.  Also, because it is so lightweight, at times it topples over on its' side and this is just slightly annoying since I am not going far but something for Oreck to think about when they improve their Ironman suit, I mean, canister vacuum.  *Oreck labels this vacuum as quiet.  That is a relative term I know and while I wouldn't have called my Oreck Ironman very loud, I wouldn't have rated it as quiet either.

My Ironman does do a great job vacuuming.  The suction is powerful and I never have to go over and over sections.  Last year when I steam cleaned my carpets I saw just how well my Oreck Ironman worked.  A picture can say a thousands words and the water I had to empty after steam cleaning my carpets where I had only used my upright was gross!  The water from cleaning the carpets that I used the Oreck Ironman on was barely dingy.  I have a new upright on order...I'll let you know the verdict on that one.

My Viewpoint:
I am glad I purchased the 2 Speed Oreck Ironman Canister Vacuum.  While, I still require an upright for large areas, my Ironman is really is a super hero helper on carpets and under furniture "where no upright has gone before."

I prefer uprights. Canisters are too cumbersome for me and I tend to trip and fall over them or the cords. I have pink vacuums on the brain right now thanks to Ms. Meri and her Dyson review ;+) ~Gigi

Thanks for your supportive comments on my reviews. I have two Orecks. They're kind of like naughty kids. I love them but, they're both noisy and, yes, the portable drives me nuts when it tips over. Oh, well...
