I have only used Orbitz once and I won't make that mistake again. I usually use Travelocity and Priceline, but I thought I would give Orbitz a try and see how it compared. I was planning a weekend away, and when I found a good hotel at a great price on Orbitz I was thrilled. But then I clicked to book the room and it mysteriously jumped in price by about $40/night. I got a little pop-up that said the original price was no longer available and this was the new price. I didn't want that price, so I left the site. But I was suspicious. So I went back a couple days later, and sure enough the original price was back, and when I clicked to book, it mysteriously jumped up again. At this point I was upset with the bait-and-switch tactic so I called the 800 number. Of course I got someone in India who had never heard of bait-and-switch. I asked for the number of the corporate office and they claimed not to have it. I called back a few minutes later hoping to get someone more intelligent and this time I ended up in the Philippines. Again I asked for a corporate number, or at least a U.S. number, and was told to just keep calling back and maybe I'd get someone in the U.S. eventually. I got really tired of "dialing for Yankees" and gave up, vowing to never use Orbitz again. Which I haven't.
