This is a big departure in a very small package. I generally like my gum to taste strongly minty, to be packaged in thin rectangular strips, and to have the right texture for an occasional "crack." Orbit is none of these things. It is a squat, chubby little wad of gum with this explosion of raspberry and a touch of mint.
Frankly, the only reason I noticed the gum was because of the bright fuschia packaging. I was initially reaching into the bulging gums-and-mints display for a pack of Winterfresh when the Orbit caught my eye. I'm rarely impulsive, but on a whim I decided to buy the Orbit instead.
As soon as I opened the pack, the wonderful aroma of raspberries just wafted out of the box. If nothing else, this gum is good aromatherapy. I found the taste to be unusual - in a good way. The raspberry flavor is perfectly balanced with the mint - not too much, not too little. The taste lasts longer than average, and if you like to chew gum, it's a pleasant experience. You don't get as much "crack" action when you chew because the texture is on the soft side. However, I'm sure schoolmarms and librarians everywhere are happy not to hear that sound anyway.
Overall, Orbit Raspberry Mint Gum is my new love. I hope the others don't get too jealous...
