I have been using a Sonicare toothbrush for years and liked it a lot. So why am I writing a rave review about the Oral B Vitality toothbrush?  Because it works better for me.

I got my Sonicare almost 10 years ago at the suggestion of my dentist. I used it, I loved it, but I just didn't feel like my teeth were as clean as they could be.  The Sonicare vibrates and has that whole sonic thing going on but recently I have found that even with my brushing and that thing vibrating my teeth were not getting as clean as they should.

So I picked up the Oral B Vitality toothbrush for about $20 at CVS and lo and behold I like it better. The head on the Vitality toothbrush spins around just like the Tim the Toolman Taylor model my dentist uses.  Plus the head is smaller and not as long as the Sonicare, therefore it fits really nicely along the backs of my front teeth as well as all around the two descended wisdom teeth way in the back of my mouth.  When I finish using my Oral B Vitality toothbrush my teeth feel just as clean as when I step out of the dentist's office after my professional cleaning and the backs of my front teeth are completely clean whereas the Sonicare left them not so clean.

This toothbrush is inexpensive compared to Sonicare and other models yet works better for me.  The heads are replaceable as well.  The bristles were a bit stiff and ouchy for the first few uses but softened up a bit after a few uses.  The Vitality toothbrush is rechargeable so you'll need to have an electrical outlet in your bathroom.  The charger's footprint is fairly small so it doesn't take up much counter space.  I espeically like that there is a hole in the handle of the toothbrush which fits onto a peg on the charger.  With my old Sonicare the whole handle fit into the charger so the charger got all dirty and gross.

I think you've answered my question about whether there's a reasonably-priced rechargeable toothbrush around. I've been wearing out batteries regularly with my Crest Spinbrush (which I like), but you've made a great case for Oral-B. Thanks!!!

Hi, I have been looking for a new electric tootbrush. I used to use Sonicare but it finally gave out. Your review was most helpful. Thanks.

I'm a Sonicare user also, and I never thought to try anything else. Now you've got me wondering...:)

I have a Sonicare now but I think I'll go with the Oral B next time.
