Optimum Nutrition's Gold Standard 100% Whey protein powder is by far one of the best standard whey protein powders on the market today. It's from a company that you know you can trust to provide you with high-quality, safe sports supplements. I have had nothing but excellent experiences with Optimum Nutrition's products, from their whey and casein protein products to their recovery powders and creatine monohydrate. All their products are great.

First off, let's talk about taste. A lot of protein powders on the market taste horrible. Optimum Nutrition's Gold Standard 100% Whey Double Rich Chocolate tastes GREAT. I don't mind drinking it in the least bit. In fact, I enjoy drinking it. Other brands I've tried, I have to choke it down and usually give up before using even half the container. With Optimum Nutrition's whey protein powder, that's not the case. It taste great every time.

Profile: It's a high-quality whey protein powder. It isn't a pure isolate, so you do get some of the lactose and fat from the whey, but not a lot though since it's a mix of hydrolyzed whey and isolates. It's not that big of deal, but if you are really concerned about it, try a pure whey protein isolate. There's a good amount of protein per serving... better than many brands. The amino acid profile is good too.

Effectiveness: It gives you the fast-absorbing protein you want and need without a lot of additives you may not need.

It's a good value, too. I'm not sure where Viewpoints came up with that price, but you can get a good deal of this on Amazon. A 5lb tub has 75 servings in it.

Overall, if you are looking for a good, clean whey protein, this is the one to get. It's effective, taste great, and a good value.

I have bought several brands of whey products and I have to say that this whey product doesn't stand out against the other whey products. having said that there are several things that I like about the Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100 percent whey. I normally buy whey in chocolate flavor and in particular I bought optimum nutrition whey in double rich chocolate flavor.

I like the richness of chocolate in the whey and it taste good. It is all natural whey. I mix it with water and it mixes fast. However I wouldn't recommend mixing this whey in hot drink like for example hot milk. It would collect into small particles on the surface of the drink.

This product, along with many other whey powdered products in the market, has a lot of calories per serving in it when compared to the per serving  protein content. However if you do enough cardio and weights then this whey drink will be okey.

For the price of the product and the quality of the product, I would recommend it, however again this product is about average whey product in the market.

ON Gold Standard Rocks!

Comments about Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey - Double Rich Chocolate:

I started a weight loss and healthy lifestyle change back in May 2013. I've now lost 100 pounds and become a runner. I started by eating healthier and learning about serving sizes. Simultaneously, I started a work-out regimen that included cardio (biking at first until I lost enough weight to jog comfortably) three days per week and strength training 2 days per week. I knew that my body would need a lot of protein since I was cutting calories in order to lose fat and was told to be cautious about cutting too fast or I'd run the danger of losing the hard-earned muscle. That's where ON Gold Standard's Whey comes into play. I couldn't get the protein I needed (about 130-150 grams per day) without eating copious amounts of cholesterol laden meat, so I turned to a whey protein powder. I tried several other brands, but NONE have the combination of taste, ingredients, value, and effectively of ON. What a great, great product. I can't recommend it enough as a supplement for those looking to maintain muscle while either losing weight or trying to bulk up.

Tastes great and makes a big difference.

Comments about Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey - Double Rich Chocolate:

I had always bypassed these big, bulky jugs of scary powder looking stuff in my vitamin and supplements aisle when shopping. They were always associated, in my mind, with a body builders diet and would completely bulk me out if I ever dared to drink some. Well, after my husband bought a jug of it, I snuck some one day before a workout. Wow! I had never experienced such instantaneous energy and stamina to last me through my entire session. gave me more power-thru than even a five hour energy drink usually did. I stated playing around with how I drank it. While it tastes great, better than I had anticipated, on its own, I like to make smoothies with this stuff. Some peanut butter, a frozen banana, and yogurt is just one of my favorite ways to try it. For a supplement that fuels your body pre-workout, and replenishes any depleted nutrition after work out, this is a great pick.

Awesome

Comments about Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey - Double Rich Chocolate:

This product was the first protein powder I have ever used, and it was perfect for my needs. I am a college athlete that was looking to put on some muscle. I had never taken protein before, then a friend show me ON Whey. There are no extra, harmful, unnecessary ingredients, just protein and muscle-building compounds. I was able to put on an extra 10 pounds of muscle while I took this product.

Be mindful, taking this product alone will not increase your muscle mass and bulk you up. It was a combination of a healthy diet, working out four days a week, and taking this product when needed. I only used one scoop per shake, as opposed to the recommended three. I only took this product on days when I exercised and needed a fast recovery.

If you take this product carefully, it will be a great supplement to your diet and exercise regimen. Optimum Nutrition provides this wonderfully simple product a a relief from the overly complex world of supplements.

Comments about Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey - Double Rich Chocolate:

This whey protein powder has very good amount of protein and amino acid profile in one serving compare to the price. we are chocolate-lovers and pretty picky about the taste of chocolate or its flavorings. we think that this protein powder's "Double Rich Chocolate" is the best.

One of, if not the best wheys

By

from USA

Comments about Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey - Double Rich Chocolate:

As a long time fitness and workout aficionado I use a whey protein supplement almost daily. Optimum Nutrition produces the highest quality and most affordable pure whey protein on the market, bar none. This product, available in almost 20 flavors including the double rich chocolate is second to none in taste, mixability, and ease of use. Including each one of the essential amino acids needed for muscle growth and repair post workout, this product should be a key part of any athlete's repertoire. In addition to the traditional use as a post workout supplement, this product can be used to provide amino acids before a strenuous workout, or even as a meal replacement option for weight loss goals. With a product as versatile as Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey, the possibilities are really endless. I continue to use this product regularly in my own regimen and am highly satisfied with the results.

terriffic powder!!

Comments about Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey - Double Rich Chocolate:

Highlights: Low price for a decent protein product.
Drawbacks:None!
Mixability:5/5
Taste:5/5
Texture:3/5
Profile:5/5
Overall:15/20
Thoughts: This protein is a staple for most people and it's too bad most people don't branch out to other econo proteins. The 100% Whey Protein line is solid except for the Cookies and Cream flavor which is absolutely horrid. A comparable product would be Dymatize Elite Whey.
Another attribute that is great about this special Whey Protein powder is that it does not clump when it is mixed with either milk or with water! For me, that's great! I love mixing my protein with milk and with this powder, I can do just that. It does indeed have a great taste, but that of its texture is not too pleasing. Overall, this is a great product. I would reccomend it to anyone due to its great pricing, and the fact that the buyer would get the most bang for their buck!

Quality protein, great taste

Comments about Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey - Double Rich Chocolate:

Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard whey protein has been a staple in my life for years. I love the variety of flavours. Mixability is good, does not clump much and is satisfying. I mix a scoop with either water or 2% milk. The calorie/carb/protein ratio is pretty good. You can do so much with this protein powder, sometimes I add it to my morning oatmeal or even use it to make protein packed pancakes. Definitely recommend.

Optimum Nutrition is the "Whey" to go!

By

from Bristol, RI

Comments about Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey - Double Rich Chocolate:

This whey protein is great and definitely produces results. I often take half a scoop before the gym and half a scoop after. The recommended amount of protein is one gram of protein per pound of body weight. This protein tastes great and goes well with milk or water. If you purchase the blender ball it will help break up the protein chunks and prevent clumping.Depending on how often you go to the gym this protein could last you a long time. It is pretty reasonably priced and often cheaper online unless one of the stores is offering and big deal. I have heard that combining creatine with this type of protein has also been pretty helpful in producing results, but when you begin taking creatine, it is recommended that you drink a lot of water or you can easily become dehyrdrated. I have also tried the vanilla flavored optimum whey protein, but my favorite choice is the strawberry because when mixed with milk it tastes like a strawberry milkshake.
