Onetouch Automatic Can Opener White 29101 Review Summary

The Viewpoints Onetouch Automatic Can Opener White 29101 gets just average reviews from our reviewers. Perhaps most telling from our reviews is that budget conscious reviewers liked it, but most reviewer looking for durability didn’t. Reviewers loved the fact that the Onetouch Automatic Can Opener was hands free, especially those who suffered from arthritis. Another plus was the Onetouch Can Opener takes batteries and is compact, which makes it very portable around the kitchen. Not all is well in the land of can openers, however. One reviewer, whose Onetouch died after a mere five uses, calls this product “The little can opener that couldn’t.” Ouch! Other reviewers had trouble figuring out just how the Onetouch Automatic Can Opener was supposed to latch onto the can and found the vague directions to be of little help. Looking for great quality? I love this product. I've had manual and electric can openers in the past. This opener works like a dream. Leaves no sharp edges and not much mess on the opener itself. You do have to watch for the paper on the cans to not get mixed in w/the contents cause it… read full review »

I love to try out new kitchen gadgets.  I was watching T.V. one day and a commercial came on for the Onetouch Automatic Can Opener White 29101.  I don't normally fall for these types of infomercials but this one seemed to be the real deal.  It looked awesome as it whipped around… read full review »

Purchased this portable hand held opener as seen on TV.  It is supposed to sit on the top of the can and rotate around the can to open the product below the sharp edge (it folds the edge of the can under as it cuts).  I had a very hard time attaching it to the can, but was determined to use it.  Put in brand new batteries, got it attached with help from my husband, but the unit creeped along and stopped until I pushed it a bit, then creeped along and stopped. I could not get the opener to let go of the lid. My husband tried to remove it and succeeded after bending and… read full review »

I first saw this type of product on television several years ago at which time you could only order it off of the television screen. I had small children at the time and the thought of it making can edges that were not sharp appealed to me. But bing on a budget and electric can openers being within $5.00 more seemed like a risk not worth trying. — Since then our finances have grown and so have the kids.  On impulse I picked one up and began using it. — At first it was strange to fit it on the edge of a can. Once I got the hang of it - it worked great. It does work by itself.… read full review »

I received this product as a wedding gift, and all I can say is that I am glad I did not spend money on it myself. If I had a receipt for the purchase I would definitely return it! I thought it would be very handy because I have a baby, so "hands-fee" sounded wonderful. But after trying to use it without any success, I asked my husband if he could show me how it worked, and he couldn't get it to open any cans either! He is somewhat of a gadget guru, so I gave up on it after that. It still sits in my kitchen drawer with hopes that someday, someone will come along who is able to get it to… read full review »

HANDS FREE CAN OPENER — This product is so simple to use that a child can help a parent or grandparent cook so easily. — This can opener has now worked on countless cans and still needs no new batteries — I make a lot of homemade soups and use a lot of can goods, this product allows me to keep cooking or doing something else while it runs by itself. — My grandson comes over and wants to feel like he is helping me, so i let him use the can opener and he feels like he is a real big boy and helped me prepare the meal. — Not a better product on the market! —… read full review »

My 83 year old father bought this stupid can opener thinking it would help him open cans.  It was just a piece of junk.  Never did work right and was frustrating trying to figure out why it wasn't working.  Never did figure that out. We ended up going to the grocery store and buying the cheapest manual can opener we could find and it worked better. Whatever you do DON'T buy this.  It's not worth it.  The cheap can openers you get at Dollar General work… read full review »

The one touch can opener is the only can opener I will ever buy again.  It's small enough to keep in the kitchen drawer. It's lightweight so it doesn't aggravate my sore wrists or fingers. It's easy to use and clean.  It can be used with just one hand and stops on its own.  I love that the edges are not sharp on the cans or their lids when the can opener stops. I've given them away as gifts for birthdays, housewarmings, and christmas. … read full review »

My athritis is very bad in my hands, so I can't easily use a manual can-opener.  I start the "one-touch" on the can and move on to something else.  I come back and the can is open.  It is small and, unlike electric openers, it doesn't take up valuable counter space.  Yes, it is a little "buggy", but once you get used to it, it is a marvelous product. … read full review »

Quite a nifty tool that worked well on any can I opened until it just stopped working after about 2 months of use. It didn't even get used enough to need new batteries so it should have lasted quite a bit longer in my opinion. When it did work it worked well and it was very easy to use but it was a bit expensive for a disposable can opener. In my opinion it was a complete waste of… read full review »

The idea of this can opener is a good one.  Its great for my arthritis to have it work by itself.  It doesn't hurt my hands at all to use it.  But the shape edge it leaves is to dangerous.  Way to easy for a child to cut themselves let alone me.  Plus if you use it for tuna you can't use the lid to squeeze the juice out like I usually do, that bugs me. —… read full review »

The one touch can opener is a good idea, but I had sort of a hard time getting it off of the can once it was opened.  It also uses batteries too fast, so that when your in the middle of opening a can the battery is dead and you have to fight to get the opener off the can to finish opening the can manually because you don't have any fresh… read full review »

I love a product that actually works.  This can opener works.  It is easy enough for my 6 year old to use.  It does not leave sharp edges which is a huge plus.  I love that I gave this to a family member with limited use of her hands and she can now open all her cans with no… read full review »
